Water Puppetry is a traditional art form with distinctive culture identity of Vietnam. It came into existence, developed and diversified over a thousand years ago in the Red River Delta. Thanks to unique performances on the water, this puppetry art is famous and highly appreciated all over the world.

In early days, water puppetry showed the daily life of villagers such as farming, fishing, romance and children playing. Now, the topics of the plays are also picked from ancient legends, myths and historic stages.

TOTAL MESSED UP TICKET SALES. TripAdvisor selling tickets to ton of people even though the shows are sold out. I’d better get a refund. Several dozen of us in this situation.

Show is cute, but the tickets via Viator is a scam!! I bought VIP tickets (row A-E), then at the theater they claimed no more vip tickets available. They wanted me to have row L tickets. In row L you barely see anything and they are much cheaper tickets. I said no, and stand my ground and somehow ‘magically’ we got the tickets we paid for and sat first row. Which had even 5 more free seats!! So beware!! Also buying directly at the theater is cheaper, however do it in time like a day before.

The Water Puppet show was fantastic from start to finish. I really enjoyed the accompanying instruments and songs as well. The puppeteers are so talented, they brought the characters to life! I didn't feel it necessary to have english translation, it wasn't too hard to figure what was happening. The puppets were funny and endearing, A big thumbs up! One thing to watch, make sure, if you hold. your phone up to record or take a photo, to ensure that you're not blocking the view of people behind you. If you're in Hanoi, you MUST see the puppet show!

Great cultural experience! Super cool and highly recommend. The show is just the right amount of time. Definitely get the audio guide to help understand each act.

Not only is the ticket price here double the price at venue. There is no skip the line for collection so you will line up anyway. Also said English guide but it’s not the case and you need to purchase additionally.

Absolutely amazing. A must see experience. We really enjoyed everything - the culture, the music, the drama, the humour and the art. We sat right at the back and could still see everything.
