The history of Skopje starts with the settlements of the Thracians and the establishing the fortress of Scupi. The town was part of the Roman, Byzanatine, Bulgarian and for short notice, of the Serbian countries. The Ottomans will conquer the city in 1392. They will change the name to Uskub and the place will convert into unique of its kind town, which will be called home from numerous Ottomans, Bulgarians and Albanians. In 1912, the city will be liberated from the Ottomans during the First Balkan war and eventually become a part of the Serbian country. During the two world wars will be eventually given to the Bulgarian country, before in the end to became part and a capital of the Macedonian Federation in the Yugoslavian socialistic republic. The city will start growing rapidly in economic and industrial way. Unfortunately a huge earthquake in 1963 has destroyed a huge part of the town, leaving more than 100 000 people without homes.

Old Bazaar - Skopje
Typical street in the Old Bazaar The Old Bazaar is a bazaar located in Skopje, situated on the eastern bank of the Vardar River, stretching from the Stone Bridge to the Bit-Pazar and from the Skopje Fortress to the Serava river. The Old Bazaar falls primarily within the borders of Čair Municipality but a part of it is located in Centar Municipality. As one of the oldest and largest marketplaces in the Balkans, it has been Skopje's center for trade and commerce since at least the 12th century.
Skopje Eye Bridge
The bridge is considered a symbol of Skopje and is the main element of the coat of arms of the city, which in turn is incorporated in the city's flag. The Stone Bridge connects Macedonia Square, in the center of Skopje, to the Old Bazaar.

5.00I took part in a guided tour in Skopje and it was a truly unforgettable experience! The guide was extremely knowledgeable, likeable and passionate, which made the tour engaging from start to finish. We visited the most iconic places of the city, such as Skopje Fortress, Old Bazaar and Stone Bridge, receiving detailed explanations and very interesting historical curiosities. I was also struck by the balance between ancient history and modernity, perfectly illustrated by the guide. The pace of the tour was well calibrated, with just enough time to take pictures and ask questions. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover Skopje in an authentic and thorough way!

4.00I was very satisfied with my day trip to Skopje. It was well worth it. Georgi was a good guide and driver, however he should tone down his political views especially against the West, and his inkling of condoning Russia in the invasion of Ukraine.

4.00I loved Skopje. What charming and intriguing place. Meeting point for the tour was easy to find. I got there first, and our driver Stefan arrived about 10 minutes before the start time. On the way there, he shared some tips and insights about Skopje. We had 2 restroom stops on the way which was nice to have. The drive was 4 hours each way but it did not bother me at all. The van was comfortable and I slept most of the way. Border crossing was very smooth and Stefan handled it efficiently. Once we arrived in Skopje, a local guide was there waiting for us and took over then. It was a cold rainy day and it was nice of her to take us to a place where we can guy scarfs, umbrellas and gloves etc. before we started the tour. The city has a lot to see, the tour had many stops but felt a bit rushed. She moved on and walked fast between stops , and I couldn’t hear her sometimes because she was talking while walking. But the sound of rain made it difficult to hear her. Before the tour ended, the guide took us to a cafe where credit cards were not accepted. We had to go to a nearest ATM with a poor rate and a high fee to get cash. I suggest taking about $20 worth of cash in Macedonian Denar. If not, always ask if cards are accepted wherever you go, before you order anything. Skopje’s old town was so charming, and felt like a maze. There seemed to be a lot of great food options. Next time I will fly directly into Skopje and stay there for at least a few days! Thank you Stefan and B Travel!

5.00The driver Philip was great and kept us entertained both with history and stories, while driving safely and on time. It takes about 3.5 hours each way without traffic (so 8-9 hours) so without him we'd be really bored and exhausted. We spent 3.5 hours in Skopje. The tour guide there was OK though she had a tendency to talk too quietly and to start talking before the entire group arrived, which, in a loud city like Skopje meant that we didn't hear much of what she said. Skopje is a nice town with a strong Ottoman influence and worth a visit (though honestly not as nice as say Plovdiv or Sofia in my opinion), and I think this tour company is a great way to do that
A short trip, but the car journey is tiring.

3.00It was public day in Macedonia, thus, we are not able to enter the museums. The local tour guide tried her best to bring us around. As we are only three in the tour group, the company didn't use the mini van and only using the car. It is very tiring to travel such a long distance in car as the space inside the car is limited.

5.00The meeting point was hard to find,no number to orient by.They should weight it is next to moskee and opposite Mac Donald.But we had driver Stefan,very good driver,friendly and service minded.Skopje is beautiful town,lots of culture and art.Go for it!But the best is ask for pick up at your hotel.
