The Skywire is one of the Worlds longest Flying Fox experiences! - your trip starts from our Base area, onboarding a mini-bus journey up through the Native Forest to the launch platform of the Skywire. Your guides will entertain you on the trip up with facts and stories of the forest, points of interest and surrounding areas. The Skywire ride takes up to 4 people at a time and can reach a speeds of up to 100km/hr. The ride takes you both on a forward facing and backwards journey, with 800 metres of gravity assisted freewheeling in each direction - combined with 700 metres of a scenic journey in each direction, finishing back at the start after nearly 12 minutes of thrilling adventure!

What To Expect
On arrival to Cable Bay Adventure Park you'll want to check in at our booking office at least 10minutes prior to your departure time. If you're early, don't worry - you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat at our onsite, licensed, Base Cafe. We're open daily from 9am with our first departure for the day leaving at 10am and our last trip for the day departing at 3:00pm. Allow 1-1.5 hours round trip from the Base area for your experience. Participants must be 1.2 metres tall, child rates apply for children aged 15years and under, we also offer family rates for 2 Adults & 2 Children The Skywire launch platform is set at 300 metres above the Base cafe. Included in your experience is a commentated, 4km mini-bus journey up through the native forest to the launch platform. The Skywire ride takes up to 4 people at a time, seated side by side, strapped into individual racing car style seats with 5 point harnesses and takes approximately 12 minutes to complete the return journey! The Skywire is weather dependent - we can't operate in heavy rain or high winds. Bookings are highly recommended especially in the busy summer season.

5.00Easy to book online we chose the skyline ride. Plenty of parking (we booked the 2:45pm session) On arrival there was no one in the office but there is a sign on the counter letting you know they are out in the park and will be back soon. There are iPads to sign in on and sign your waver, use the QR code on your receipt for quick access. We sat in the cafe area until the shuttle arrived to take us up to the skyline ride. If you get car sick you may want to sit up at the front or by on the single seat by the sliding door. Once up the top plenty of room and shelter to stretch your legs, take photos from The stunning view. There are internal toilets on site. Our guide was super fun and it didn’t take long for the group to go through the ride. We enjoyed the ride, leave you caps and loose footwear on the deck before you hop into the chair, you can take your cellphone but it’s like holding onto it if you were holding it out your car window doing 90kms. The ride down was fun, the reverse free fall backwards on the return was exciting, it would exciting to have the chair reversed for the ride and step off backwards. We clocked 92.9km going down. Over all we have fun, it was super chill with the staff on site and we recommend the later session in the afternoon if you want to avoid the crowds.

5.00A unique experience of riding a zipline both down and back up. While the 90ks down hill drop is fun the backwards zip is just great - unexpected and just plain fun. The guide was nice and friendly as were the cafe staff. Good coffee and slices.

5.00The tour guide driving us up and down hairpin turns on the mountain was friendly and knowledgeable. The view at the top is incredible. We went in winter, amazing blue skies and relatively quiet. This is a must do trip when in Nelson!

4.00Wonderful experience. Well organised experience. Skywire was fun - but not as adrenaline inducing as I thought it would be - I expected it to go much faster than it did. With our group was a family and the young son (about 10ish?) didn't want to go on the ride. The way our guide dealt with him was fabulous - patient, calm and empathetic trying to encourage him to give it a go. Well done!
