Get to know the dogs of Susitna Sled Dog Adventures! Join us in the dog yard and enjoy some fun with a lively group of sled dogs as they run around the fenced in yard. Explore the world of sled dogs, learn what it takes to compete in races, and understand why these incredible animals thrive in this unique role. We'll tell you stories about the dogs and share adventures from the trails. After some playtime in the yard, we'll dress up a dog in a harness, show you the sled, and talk about the winter gear we use. If we have any puppies, we'll end the visit cuddling with the next generation of athletes.
This is a great activity for dog lovers who want to learn about sled dogs, and more importantly, get a dose of dog therapy.

What To Expect
Located just south of Talkeetna Alaska, Susitna Sled Dog Adventures is home to a family of happy huskies, and their humans, Rohn and Alyssa Buser. Come visit us on a tour and learn about life with these amazing athletes, and why they excel as sled dogs. Get to know each of their fun personalities, as we tell you stories of where they each came from and the fun adventures we have had with them. Pet the dogs as they play and run in the yard.

5.00I enjoyed the tour very much. The dogs were so friendly and the owners were very knowledgeable and very will to answer all our questions. We ended up with an hour and half tour and they were very will to give us more time if we wanted to.

5.00We ended up being the only 2 on the tour. The road to get there can be rough so make sure you're in a truck. That is obviously not anything they can control but something you should know. The guide, Rohn, was knowledgeable and explained a lot about the history of dog sledding. The dogs were super cute and energetic. We got to play with the puppies and see how they prepare the older dogs for racing. It was a really fun adventure and something I've talked to others about several times since I got home. I really recommend a visit. We had the opportunity to visit some of the bigger kennels later on our trip but I'm really glad we did this one as it was a much more personal experience and something I'll remember.

5.00Dogs are very well cared for & happy! Rohn was very kind and knowledgeable. He took the time to answer all our many questions of the history etc. He really loves his dogs and dog mushing. They are a sweet little family and the property / tour was easy to drive to & a beautiful area

5.00I did the tour with dog walk and puppy visit in August 2025 and would highly recommend! Alyssa gave a great tour, is so knowledgeable and friendly, and made it a great experience! And of course the highlight was meeting all the sled dogs and puppies! They are so cute and their different personalities really shine through! It was a wonderful visit and I’ll following and supporting them for the Iditarod!

5.00Great introduction to sled dogs! Rohn was a great tour guide and full of information. Got to take a walk with the dogs and had all of our questions answered. Got some quality time with the puppies as well. Great activity if you’re looking for a real piece of Alaska. Highly recommended!!

5.00Absolutely unforgettable! Our family had the most incredible experience on this dog sledding kennel tour. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the family who runs the operation—you can feel their passion and love for the dogs in everything they do. The tour was not only exciting but deeply informative. We learned all about the history of dog sledding, the care and training of the dogs, and the incredible dedication it takes to run a kennel like this, and even the Iditarod. The owners are preparing to run again in 26! The highlight however, was meeting the dogs themselves! Every single dog was full of personality and clearly adored by the family. And the puppies—oh, the puppies! Getting to snuggle with them was a dream come true for all of us, especially the kids. This wasn’t just a tourist stop; it felt like being invited into someone’s home and heart. We left feeling inspired, educated, and grateful for the experience. If you’re anywhere near this place, do not miss it. It’s the kind of adventure that stays with you long after it’s over.

5.00My family and I (5 adults) visited the sled dog kennels and we all loved it. We were greeted very enthusiastically by all the dogs. Initially we were outside the fenced area with all the kennels. We then went on a walk with a small group of dogs and we got to see them running full out, having a great time on a beautiful sunny day. Then we got to go through the fence into the kennel area. Each dog has its own kennel and its own long lead so it can move around. I am hesitant about strong enthusiastic dogs who like to jump, and I could enjoy being in the kennel area in spots where the dogs couldn’t reach me. On the other hand my dog loving family members had plenty of interaction with the dogs. Along the way Rohn and Mikayla answered all our questions and gave us in depth information about the dogs and their care and training. After spending time in the kennels we went into another area with just one dog and Rohn showed us how the dog is outfitted for a race. He also described how the Iditarod in particular is organized and how the dogs are cared for by the musher. Rohn has taken a team on the Iditarod a number of times and he is preparing to participate again this year. After that part of the tour - puppies!! We were taken to a separate kennel area with a mom and 8 six week old puppies. We were allowed to play with and hold the puppies (while seated). Rohn was so informative and knowledgeable and he was very generous with his time. Members of my group who interacted closely with the dogs in the kennel area got pretty dirty due to the enthusiasm of the dogs. But it was a great experience and a little dirt was no problem. If you or any of your group are dog lovers you must book this experience
