A perfect family exursion!
Experience the nature and silence surrounded by snow-clad mountains in the valley of Mathisdalen and come join our family at Omdal farm.
The sleigh is drawn by the horse breed known from the Disney movie "Frozen". The sheep you will meet, have the opportunity to be outside all year long, and in the summertime they lives side by side to the reindeer up in the mountains.
You will also get a taste of the Sami way of life, when enjoying lokal snacks meal in a traditional Sami tent, called "lavvo".
we only take small groups of up to 14 people.

What To Expect
Welcome to our family-run farm in arctic where we live three generations where everyone works on the farm. A 30-40 minutes sleigh ride in beautiful surroundings where you snuggle up under warm blankets. The sleigh is drawn by Norwegian fjord horses. If luck is with us; The Aurora Borealis may appear. You will also have the opportunity to say hallo to our Norwegian short tale sheep when we return back to our family farm. The price includes a selection of lokal snacks served inside a Sami tent, "lavvo", in front of a fire. -Pickup at your location in the city of Alta included! - Rides available all year - summer and winter. Our experienced guides will pick you up at your location in Alta and bring you to our farm, which is a 30 minutes drive from the center of Alta. Restroom available for our guests. 5.00This family run farm was so beautiful and so were our hosts. Sleighride thru the property in the snow was fabulous. We were treated to coffee and a snack after the ride and got to meet some of the sheep and hear a bit about what it's like to run a farm and live in the Arctic.

5.00We were collected near our cruise ship with another couple. Driven by one of the daughters to their family farm. The 4 of us got in a wooden horse drawn sleigh. The other daughter took us for a lovely ride through the snow, around their farm. We then went in a Sami style tent for a tapas meal. The food was great, salmon, reindeer, cheese, cloudberry chutney etc. Then we went to see the horses and sheep. They love to be stroked. Through the whole trip we heard about local life, which was interesting. We were then driven back to the port. This is a fantastic trip that we didn’t want to end. The family are lovely and welcoming. They only take small groups, just the 4 of us that day, which was great. Our favourite trip of the holiday.

5.00Fantastic experience, personal touch and informative of Norwegian life. Viggo, Anniken and the family was very friendly. The pony sledge ride, the traditional lavvu, log burner and locally sourced food were a welcome warm touch thankyou for a very memorable afternoon.

5.00Our first trip for our first full day in all tar. Fantastic hosts in a fantastic landscape this trip is ideal for families who wish to experience Norway. The drive out to the farm was incredibly insightful and we got to see beautiful landscapes Fields and some lost reindeer. The slave ride was incredibly peaceful and relaxing and we had wonderful photos with beautiful horses. It was great to go around the farm and in the barn to see the sheep and the other animals as well as their barn cat. I hosts put on a fantastic lunch made up of local foods have lovely drunks in front of a lovely hot fire. It was exciting to hear about the wildlife around and the industry of farming knowing that links and Eagles are around us on the mountain Side. This trip is ideal for young families who wish to experience norway living and meet wonderful people as well as taste wonderful food.

5.00From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and met the horses that would be pulling our wagon, they were very friendly and gorgeous! We got into the wagon and had blankets to sit on and to put over your lap, we set off and had a lovely ride around the woods, it was just getting dark and the colours in the sky were great. We got back to the farm and went into the tent, which had an open fire and was lovely and warm. We were given a plate of different foods to try and had water, tea and coffee. We then went into the barn to meet the other horses and some naughty shetlands! We also met the sheep and a lovely cat! The minibus picks you up from the ship and drops you back again. It’s a great experience, one I won’t forget and I would definitely recommend.

5.00Excellent pick up and journey from the port, to Viggo's family farm. Really relaxing experience, beautiful scenery, comfortable carriage ride, very tasty food and wonderful company talking with Annika and Viggo about their family life on the farm. It was a small group of 7 people so it was personal and friendly. Loved meeting the animals and talking with the family. After 2.5hrs Viggo drove us back to the port, even took a longer route to share some local history and sing us a Norwegian song. Fantastic insight into Norwegian life with such a nice welcoming family. Would recommended this experience to everyone. Thanks Viggo and Annika for an unforgettable memory x

5.00We were collected by private taxi from the cruise terminal and received a warm welcome from the family on arrival. The sleigh ride was amazing through beautiful scenery and all the time we were learning about life on the farm and in Norway. When we got back there was a warm welcome in the Tee Pee with delicious snacks and warm drinks. We were made to feel very special and the family work so hard and truly lover their animals. This is definitely an experience we would do again.
