This trip was absolutely incredible; I could leave Hawaii a happy woman if this was the only thing I did during my entire stay. Our guide Felix was amazing; a wealth of knowledge and so passionate about his job. He made our trip fun and insightful. We lucked out and had the most exceptionally clear night for stargazing with a new moon. Kilauea was also bubbling up and preparing for another eruption, so we got to see lots of activity there. I know those two are circumstantial and can’t be guaranteed for ever tour, but even without those the other parts were a delight.

Todd absolutely made this experience unforgettable. From the moment we started, his depth of knowledge about the volcanoes was obvious—he didn’t just share facts, he brought the entire landscape to life with stories, history, and insights you wouldn’t get on your own. What really set Todd apart, though, was his personality. His sense of humor kept the group engaged the entire time, and he had a great way of connecting with everyone—answering questions, reading the group’s energy, and making sure we were all having a great time. It never felt like a scripted tour; it felt like exploring with someone who genuinely loves what they do. The stargazing portion was just as incredible. Todd made the night sky accessible and fascinating, pointing out constellations and sharing stories that made the experience feel both educational and magical. If you’re lucky enough to get Todd as your guide, you’re in for something special. This wasn’t just a tour—it was a highlight of our trip.

Derek was an incredible guide—so interactive, informative, and genuinely hilarious. He kept us laughing the entire time! Even though we missed the volcanic activity at the viewpoint, it started up while we were at dinner nearby. Derek immediately took us back on a detour to try and catch a glimpse. He is a wonderful, jolly, and amusing guide who truly goes above and beyond. Highly recommend!

Miexia was great . Very informative, involved everyone. Shame about the weather so no star gazing but Noone can control that.

We had an amazing experience and were blessed with seeing both flowing lava and a beautifully clear star gazing experience! If conditions are favorable this tour will help you find them!

My family of four (15 yo, 13 yo, wife, myself) fully enjoyed our tour guide, Todd W., who was super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the volcanos, island, and different areas of the island. We rate him an A++! The tour operations was fantastic with speedy replies to my email questions. In addition, the premium sprinter van was comfortable with strong AC and Heaters in the cabin. It was a clean van interior and exterior. We loved this tour and despite the rain, fog, we got to see some stars at the right part of the island, thanks to Todd for knowing the right spots! We highly recommend and worth the smallgroup premium price.

We took our two kids on the tour, 6 and 7 years old. Dreu was our tour guide. He was so informative and super entertaining. It is a LONG day but my kids were engaged the whole time! We signed up for this tour to take my 6 year old to see an active volcano. The tour did not disappoint. Although we didn’t see lava, it was in between episodes, we got to walk through the lava tube, feel the heat from the heat vents, see the crater where the lava comes out when it is in an episode and we got to play and climb in a lava flow field. The coffee farm and the black sand beach was really cool. We did get to see a couple of sea turtles basking on the beach in the rain. The weather didn’t cooperate for the stargazing part but as we were driving back to the hotels, the sky opened up and we pulled over and saw the most beautiful and spectacular stars. It was a magical ten minutes as the clouds did not stay away for long and the stars were not visible the rest of the night. If you’re looking for a fun and adventurous day, THIS IS IT! We will talk about this tour for the next twenty years!
