We’ll begin with a visit to the famous Snow Monkey Park, where you can watch wild Japanese macaques enjoying a soak in the hot springs—set in the peaceful mountains of Nagano.
After the walk, we’ll head over to the nearby Shibu Onsen area, a beautiful historic hot spring town. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant here, featuring freshly made soba noodles and other regional specialties.
After lunch, you’ll have time to unwind in one of Shibu Onsen’s public baths. The mineral-rich waters are said to have healing properties and offer the perfect way to relax.
And for a bit of extra fun, there’s the chance to collect stamps from different hot springs using a special towel—a local tradition that adds a playful touch to your visit.
Whether you're here to relax, explore, or enjoy good food and drink, this tour offers a great mix of what makes Nagano special.

What To Expect
Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park
We’ll begin with a visit to the famous Snow Monkey Park, where you can watch wild Japanese macaques enjoying a soak in the hot springs—set in the peaceful mountains of Nagano. Important Notice about Snow Monkeys Please note that in September, October, and November, the snow monkeys visit the park less frequently compared to other months. On rare occasions, the number of monkeys may be very low or none at all. In such cases, we will guide you to a nearby beautiful waterfall as an alternative experience.
Located just a short walk from the Snow Monkey Park, Enza Cafe is the perfect spot to grab a snack. If you like sweet treats, we recommend trying the apple pie here.

5.00Excellent tour. Tour guide Umut was flexible and accommodating. We had as much time as we wanted to enjoy the monkeys, stopped at Enza Cafe for apple pie, took advantage of the onsen, got lunch at a wonderful cozy diner, and were much entertained throughout by Umut’s stories.

5.00Exceeded expectations! Umut provided our small group with a well organised and smooth running tour. He and Risa were engaging, informative and personable guides. The lunch was filling and delicious! An unexpected highlight was the onsen towel stamping which was good fun and provides a tasteful and authentic momento.

5.00My family and I had a great time on this snow monkey/onsen tour! We went in the winter and there were a lot of monkeys running around and relaxing in the onsen. It was pretty cool to see! Umut was very friendly and informative! Highly recommend this tour!

5.00The snow monkey park was really fun, the monkeys are very cute and the walk to the park is short (around 1km) and quite easy. Our tour guide was very helpful and friendly. The shibu onsen tour is very fun, and the onsen is very relaxing however bring a towel if you can.

5.00Umut, our guide, was great! The tour was perfect- monkeys, local food, onsens and transportation. He communicated with me prior to the tour when I had questions about our baggage. This helped me relax before the tour. I wasn’t feeling well, so he even took me to a pharmacy for cold medicine. Umut went above and beyond making sure we got to the correct train station at the end of the tour even though it was out of the way. He was a wonderful tour guide showing patience with our young kids, flexibility and knowledge of Japan and the snow monkeys. We took 5 tours on this trip and we LOVED this one.
