Joining this subarctic adventure and driving a snowmobile over Europe’s biggest glacier, will be one of the most exciting experiences you will ever participate in.
Along with an exciting adventure, you will also experience an unbelievable view over the glacier.
About halfway through the tour, we’ll stop and you can take pictures and peacefully enjoy the scenery.
Our guides are informative and entertaining and will tell you facts about the area and the glacier.
A valid driver’s license is required to operate the snowmobile.
Participants combined weight on one snowmobile MUST be 180kg / 390lbs or less. If your combined weight exceeds 180kg / 390lbs you need to book single snowmobiles.
The standard version of our snowmobile tour has two persons riding on one snowmobile.
However, if you are travelling solo or in an odd number group 1, 3, 5, etc., you need to book at least one solo rider.
Additional cost for 1 x solo rider is 10.000 ISK - paid at the base camp

You will sit and enjoy while our driver takes you to about 1000 meters up in the mountains where the view over Iceland’s highest peaks will take your breath away, all awhile we are driving on Vatnajökull, the biggest glacier in Europe.

5.00Fantastic experience. Standing on top of the glacier felt like being on another planet. What was supposed to be a group tour of up to 20 people ended up being just our family of four, which made the experience feel like a private adventure. Our guide, Mike, was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. We also lucked out with the weather—just as clouds rolled in while we were heading to the farthest point, the sun broke through. This allowed us to take the snowmobiles over fresh powder snow to reach a viewing spot that was epic. Overall, a 10 out of 10. Highlight of our trip so far.

5.00I have always wanted to have a go at this activity and this experience gives you a reasonable taster. It is quite a journey up to the glacier in a specially adapted 4x4 following a mountain road, and of course back down again at the end so expect about an hour on the snowmobile. The instructors were informative, both about how to drive and about the glacier environment; they also had a good sense of humour. Having been shown the controls and given some advice on positioning and safety we set off one behind the other. Inevitably there were different levels of confidence and development of skill so it was a little frustrating for those who adapted readily but the instructors managed things so we could all get going at a fun pace. The half way spot is a spectacular viewpoint if you are lucky like us and have a sunny, clear day. We booked 2 on one machine and swopped drivers for the way back. There were the usual posing/selfie opps and the instructors offered to take pics if wanted. I enjoyed the experience, perhaps felt we could have had a longer route and a little less time at the 2 stops we made but we had our 3 hours and a bit from leaving base to return. Certainly left me buzzing and wanting to do it again for longer some time if I can.

5.00If you're afraid of heights, the drive up in the jeep may be a bit much for you. I got really scared but just closed my eyes and held hubby's hand. It was worth it once we got up there! Had soooo much fun and our guide was awesome! It was cold, but we had the perfect gear on to keep us warm. We didn't see a ton because of the snow and low visibility but the whole group has a blast. We went to ride snowmobiles and that's exactly what we did!!!

4.00We had a very nice time and our tour guide was very friendly. However, the duration of actually doing the snowmobile was very short -less than an hour- and we were stopping all the time for photoshooting which was annoying and quite boring.
