The Sollipulli volcano has the largest crater in South America.

Inside the crater there is a huge glacier, which is one of the most important water sources in Araucanía, with an area of 24 square kilometers.

The trail runs through forests of ancient monkey puzzle trees and huge coihue trees, as well as ancient volcanic eruptions.

The tour offers an educational and respectful look at the Mapuche worldview, the wild nature of this territory and its inhabitants.

What To Expect

We will travel by vehicle from the meeting point to the starting point of the trek in the Villarrica National Reserve, Sollipulli sector, which takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. From there we will start the trail, which lasts from 7 to 9. This has a medium difficulty, with slopes less than 40 ° and without major risks. The trail passes through huge forests of Coihues and Araucarias, ancient volcanic lavas until reaching the southern summit of the volcano, from where you can see its crater, the largest in South America and a huge glacier inside. During the trek you can observe various geological processes, ancient forests and various animals such as; black woodpeckers, condors, striped rays, comeebos, snakes, lizards, foxes, etc.
