What To Expect
Santana
Passage through the City of Santana, capital of the District of Cantagalo and see some typical houses. We will also pass Messias Alves beach to see the fishing community and also have a view towards the islet Santana.
Agua Ize
Here we get to know the stories of the introducer of the cocoa culture in São Tomé, Roça Água Izé (colonial houses, community) architecture of the old hospitals of Roça Água Izé. On the coastal part of this Plantation we visit the Boca de Inferno and its history.

1.00The sea was too rough, and passengers on the cruise ship were not allowed on shore. Viator's policy does not allow for this eventuality. We will now be cancelling our future booked excursions .

5.00Quaresma is the most helpful guide in São Tomé. He chose me a beach to swim, and a lovely place, looking over the sea to eat lunch, and took me to know José Carlos Silva, a renowned Chef at Roça dos Angolares!

5.00Admilson was outstanding! Nicely paced and very relaxed tour. Deatiled explaination of much more than just the stops we made. He detailed the islands history, cultural changes, local customs, languages, foods, schooling, government, standard of living, etc.. He is very proud of his home and his culture and takes great pride in discusiing it. Lunch was fantastic. Wish him all the best with his future plans for himself and his family. He and his family would be welcome to my home anytime and i would be delighted to give him a tour, although I'd have a hard time topping his.

5.00We booked with Ban Be as a cruise ship excursion and from the time of booking Luis reached out to confirm all arrangements including on the day prior and morning of the tour when our ship was unfortunately delayed almost 3 hours. His fantastic communication reassured us & made us feel like VIP clients!! We had Abilio as our guide with excellent English, who shared important social & political history of the island, and re-routed our tour by taking us first to the furthest destination to better time our day and ensure our return to the ship on time with minimal stress. With our private tour we were able to experience daily living in the local villages & even sample local brewed beer at Complexo Mioba...instead of just the more common/tourist stops. Abilio expertly navigated the windy roads with dramatic cliff views, crescent beaches, beautiful jungle w/lush vegetation, & bananas/mangos/palms that cover the steep volcanic mountains. With a little patience, we were rewarded with views of dramatic Pico Cao Grande when its top peaked through the clouds/mist. We also really appreciated at the fishing village how Abilio walked down to where the locals were hauling in their catch and translated so my husband, who is an avid fisherman, could interact with them. We fell in love with Sao Tome, its natural beauty, and its people. We will be re-booking with Ban Be tours!

5.00Luis organised all tours for my daughter and I. Each one was wonderful. He personally was there punctually every day at pick-up to introduce us to the guide...I initially booked only one tour but ended up doing 3 (4th was cancelled because of bad weather 😵💫). Highly recommend this agency. Very good service, always with a smile and ready and willing to accommodate any special requests.

5.00From the Welcoming at the airport to the farewell in the last of the 15 days we spent in São Tomé and Príncipe, the professionalism, the quality, the visits/routes and the adaptation to our suggestions/needs were a constant. It should also be noted that due to the interest we have shown in visiting the National Museum of São Tomé and Príncipe, in Fort de São Sebastião, and despite not being scheduled and being closed, Mr. Luís Afonso immediately made himself available for the visit to take place. In 2022 we had scheduled this trip which was cancelled for operational reasons of the air carrier, but the way the problem was resolved by Ban Bé NonTours (Sr. Luís Afonso), led us to choose to use it this year, and, well.
