Visited last week and unfortunately, it was a real letdown. The staff were unhelpful and quite rude. My husband wasn’t feeling well, and we were only given 30 minutes after getting off the boat to eat the buffet lunch. The food selection was very limited — just three salads, garlic bread, and two hot dishes — with most guests rushing for the fruit. When I explained to a staff member that my husband and daughter weren’t feeling well and had missed lunch, he responded rudely, “Did you not hear my announcement — 30 minutes only?” I apologised and tried to explain again, but he simply walked away. About half an hour later, he returned with four plates of food, placed them down without a word, and muttered something in Fijian to his colleague. The beach was not swimmable, covered with rocks and coral, so I’d strongly recommend bringing reef shoes if you go. It’s not suitable for children, as the only accessible swimming area was a small pool. The island itself was quite dirty, and as soon as the boat returned, everyone rushed to get back on board — it really felt like no one could wait to leave. South Sea Cruises should better inform guests about the conditions and recommend bringing proper footwear. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

This was a real highlight of our trip to Fiji. Checking in at the port was easy (advise to check-in online first), and boat left on time. The island was gorgeous. Buffet lunch adequate, plenty of shade and seating around the communal area. Pool was a bit slimy but ok for kids. The sea was so warm and beautiful to swim in. Submersible boat was enjoyable. A half day is plenty of time to do the activities. Very enjoyable day out.

Smooth sailing on South Sea Cruises to this beautiful little island, lunch was well presented and beautiful. Only downfall was the pool. It was very slippery underfoot, which would be a health risk, as it would be harbouring micro organisms and bacteria.

What a lovely family experience from departing the Port the lovely comms lady to the beautiful shores of South Sea Island Half Day. The lovely lady Ma, who did the introduction, was very clear and informative upon our arrival. Lunch was served and was a delight and very filling thank you to the team who organised lunch. The complimentary drinks were very forth coming for all. Activities for snorkeling, kayaking and the stand up water board were great for the children but it lack support especially for users who were first timers and weren't familiar with using the water activities, but other than that the beach and swimming were fabulous especially the salt water pool. I treated my husband to a massage, and boy, he enjoyed that and compliments to the young lass who assisted. Highlights was the glass bottom tour a bit crowded, but the aircon facility was very welcomed. It's great to have shared these moments with my 2 children. The local performers who delivered the lovely performances were spectacular A++. Overall, the facilities for the toilets, smoking, water refill, and relaxing areas were clearly displayed. The staff on the day that I interacted with gave great service. Vinaka South Sea Island Team

It was ok. Not wonderful and not terrible - just ok. What stood out from the trip was not a good thing … the time for the pick up ferry from the island had been confused so the staff had to rush everyone to pack up quickly with minimal notice. This was not great especially for those with young kids.

We went on the half day trip, it was perfect amount of time on the island. Arrive and received a beautiful BBQ and salad for lunch, following by a traditional song and dance. Snorkelled, went paddle boarding, swam in the pool, slept in the sun in the hammocks, free drinks all day, and watched the sun set. Such a beautiful island. I would definitely recommend.

The kids club was really just a sandbox with toys. We enjoyed the semi-submersible, the pool, and beach time. The sand is gritty/grainy-not smooth, so we were glad for our water shoes. The bar and food were good and the entertainment during lunch was fun. The boat was PACKED FULL on the last boat home, and I don’t think everyone got a seat.

Transport infrastructure, or lack of, meant long travel time to and from Port Denarau. On our return journey our driver dropped us off on opposite of pickup point - no traffic lights to cross in the dark - very dangerous.
