Upon entering the gardens, you are filled with a sense of peace and calm. The quiet around you touches your soul as you walk and see the sculptures and bonsai trees. We had a chance to meet Bum-Young Sung, the founder; we found him humble and totally committed to this project.

Fantastic garden! It was nice meeting Bum-Young Sung too. My friends and I had a great time exploring the legendary garden. We took about 2 hours and admission fee is 15,000 won.

Garden was beautifully laid out with lots of bonsai to look at, starting the statues, rocks, beautiful, pathways, fish, a nice place to have refreshments, with a tower that overlooked the garden so you had a really great view of the property. We met the owner of the property who, at an advanced age, was still working. It was a pleasure to see him and tell him what we thought of it; although he couldn’t understand English. I think he got the idea though. It’s well worth a visit to go to this place if you happen to be on Jeju island

A moment out of time. An afternoon to recharge. The meeting with Sung Bum-young who kindly signed his book for me was the highlight. I highly recommend it.

We travelled throughout South Korea and Japan for one month and the Spirited Garden was the most beautiful garden we had seen. It is a medium sized garden, not large, but we allowed ourselves to slowly wander and it's beautiful focus on healing and refuge as you walk through it is felt. It's meticulously maintained, has many Jeju Island volcanic rock structures, bridges, archways, gates, world's largest dolharbang, 2 large waterfalls and large koy ponds, bronze swings, so it's also a nice place for children. The garden includes signs with a short description of the technique for growing bonsai trees and his philosophical view to everyday life. A UNESCO world heritage site. The café is a tall round 2 level Jeju volcanic rock building filled with a lot of beautifully crafted wood furniture to allow you to enjoy tea or a single hand ground dripped coffee from the world's top three locations, as well as pottery, jewellery, high quality hats made in Korea and books from the builder and farmer of this garden, Seong Beom-yeong, who was a humble older man who greeted us with the warmest smile and a warm visit. The whole experience for me was touching, and such a lovely memory that I have taken home to Canada with me. I bought my Mom his interesting book for Christmas (he wrote a note in it for her) that has been translated to English about his life story, his story of building this garden and curating bonsai trees while philosophically relating it to life. I look forward to reading the book also. This was our favourite stop on Jeju Island.🌳

Very pretty curated garden. Snowing in winter day after Christmas adds to the charm. Met the founder who still remains healthy and attentive to tourists.
