Trogir
Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage town known for its beautiful mix of history and charm. Founded more than 2,000 years ago, it has seen Greeks, Romans, and Venetians all leave their mark. The old town sits on a small island, linked by bridges, and is perfect for exploring on foot. Its narrow stone streets, hidden courtyards, and small squares create a special atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. At the heart of Trogir stands the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, famous for its 13th-century portal carved by Master Radovan. The palm-lined waterfront is another highlight, with cafés, boats, and the Kamerlengo Fortress offering wonderful views of the sea and town. Though compact, Trogir is truly unforgettable.
Diocletian’s Palace is the heart of Split and one of the most remarkable Roman monuments in the world. Built around 305 AD by the Roman emperor Diocletian as his retirement residence, the palace is more like a small city than a single building. Within its massive walls you’ll find a maze of narrow streets, lively squares, and centuries of history layered together. Highlights include the Peristyle, once the ceremonial courtyard; the Cathedral of St. Domnius, originally Diocletian’s mausoleum; and the underground cellars, which give you a sense of the palace’s original scale. Today the palace is still alive, filled with shops, cafés, and homes. Walking through it feels like stepping into living history — where the Roman past meets the everyday life of Split.

We have plenty of time to visit the two cities. We returned to the boat on time. The guide Silvio was incredible. He loves his city and provides plenty of historical details. He makes everything come alive. Frances Montreal

We were picked up at the pier by our cruise ship. The loved that we only had 7 in our group. I saw huge crowds loaded into tour buses for their group tour. Small group tour is the way to go. In spite of the rain, Silvio was able to keep us entertained with the history of these two unique cities. We had plenty of free time to explore on our own.

This was one of the best tours I have ever taken. Our guide, Toni, was born in the area of Split, and was able to give us the "inside" story of the area from a local's viewpoint. The trip to Trogir was also very interesting to see how that city began as a castle then grew from that to the city that it is now. A wonderful trip that I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in that part of the world.

Absolutely outstanding knowledge of the area and very personable. The small village of Trogir was enchanting, and the history and remains of Dilcletian’s palace in Split were amazing. We had a fantastic time!

Wonderful experience. Our guide, Tony, was amazing, so knowledgeable and helpful. Answered every question. He entertained us with personal childhood stories of the places we visited. It was very special. Both Split and Trogir were beautiful and interesting places. There were 8 of us in a comfortable people carrier and the tour felt so personal. We would highly recommend this tour. So much better than the large coach party tours that are part of cruises and so much better value.
