Depart St. Thomas or meet up at St. John for a visit to the smallest of the US Virgin Islands. Take in the history of the island as well as its majestic natural beauty on this half-day tour. See an old Danish sugar plantation, a national park, and various lookouts along the way.
Start by boarding a ferry that takes you across the short 4 miles (6.4 km) of water between St. Thomas and St. John, where your tour bus awaits you. With your local guide, stop first at the Virgin Islands National Park to take in beautiful mountain vistas, impossibly blue water, and verdant coastal greenery. Enjoy the panoramic displays of white-sand beaches meeting mountain forests at your next 2 stops, Caneel Bay and Trunk Bay.
At Annaberg, see the remnants of a 1780s sugar mill plantation. Wonder at the ruins of the factory, windmill, and slave quarters as you learn about the island's Danish settlers. Finish with a drive back to the ferry terminal for your cruise back to St. Thomas.

It was hard to find our correct driver and tour bus- a little confusing. We were told our driver was Kenneth and then it was switched to another driver. One of our draws for the trip was the national park and Annaberg ruins- he almost didn’t take us to the ruins because he said we will all need time for the beach . At the ruins we felt like it was all a rush and didn’t have time to read the information and take in the importance of this place. We had NO idea we were going to the beach at Trunk Bay for two hours. That was not in the description and we didn’t have towels or bathing attire with us. That was frustrating. We also went to Coral Bay and that wasn’t in the itinerary. And why didn’t we stop for a picture at the Trunk Bat overlook? It’s such a famous overlook. Were we in the wrong tour group? The group we were with were nice though.

Educational drive by viewing of St Johns/ Virgin Island national Park. Kenneth was excellent guide. This is not a stop, get out and walk around tour, but that's ok as most of our group had limited mobility. This is a drive by tour except for 20 minutes at sugar plantation. It's customary for taxis on Island to be open air and are bumpy winding roads. Two tall steps required to board taxi. Make sure your party ok with that. We would have liked a 20 minute stop at national park visitors center (was not offered). Overall I would recommend. The high tide is a decent restaurant overlooking water (cruz bay) while you wait for return ferry. Communication with the tour operator was good.

Enjoyed the excursion, our driver was friendly and informative. Just wish we had been able to go to Trunk Beach for a short period of time.

Kenneth was great about the history of the island and very personable. We did see most of the island with some spectacular views. The Annaberg Sugar plantation was interesting but be prepared to walk up and down a very steep hill. The views are well worth. The vehicle itself was hard to get into if you have any issues with your legs or back.

We arrived at Cruz Bay by ferry from St. Thomas on Monday July 7, 2025. My daughter and I had lunch at a restaurant right outside the Ferry Dock. As we exited the restaurant, a man approached us and offered a tour of the island...we were going to inquire about one anyway so we asked him the cost. He stated that it would be $40pp. We agreed and a short time later a man in a taxi calling himself "Capt. Leon" explained that he would drive the two of us around the island. He took us to many beautiful places on the Island and we were able to take pictures at Trunk Bay etc. When we arrived back in town ( approx. 1 1/2 hrs later, he said we owed him $325! We told him what we were quoted by the person who coordinated the tour for us. He claimed to be upset that we were quoted so little. ( We weren't buying it...it was obviously a classic bait and switch). It put a bit of a damper on our trip. He claimed to be ex-military....I hope not because I thought persons in the military were honorable people. He was not.

Kenneth was a great and knowledgeable guide. He took us to many points of interest on the island of St. John. Also, when you get off the ferry, there are vendors right in the square. Great tour!

Kenneth was wonderful. He gave us great insights to the history of the islands and more recent events. We arrived 30 minutes early but as the entire group was there Kenneth was ready to go too.
