Stone Town
This tour will give you an excellent way of familiarizing yourself with Stone Town’s geography, history, architecture and culture. This fascinating excursion leads you through a maze of narrow streets that boasts more than 2000 limestone buildings, covering an area of 50 hectares and with a population of 18000 living in the suburbs. With its defined and overlapping African, Arab, Indian, Persian and European elements, it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Zanzibar and Stone Town are truly cosmopolitan. After a visit to the Anglican Cathedral (former slave market), House of Wonders (national museum), Palace museum, the Old Fort, Darajani market, Hamamni Baths, Catholic Cathedral, Freddy Mercury house and experiencing the hustle and bustle of the streets, the bazaar full of coffee drinkers and the beautiful doors of Zanzibar, you too will bear witness that Stone Town is a cultural crossroads and that it is worthy of its world heritage title. Also take the time to explore the markets where local people purchase their daily requirements and also a market street full of colourful textiles. Whether you are interested in history, culture, architecture, renovation work, or just a shopaholic, your guide can adapt your tour to your needs. They will share amusing, but also cruel stories, about the life and culture of the old times in Stone Town and then safely deposit you back where your tour started/ the place you were met.

I had such an enjoyable time on the Stone Town . Brother Muhammad was my Tour guide and to say he was knowledgeable would be an understatement. He took his time explaining the history of Stone Town as well as the Architecture . I would highly recommend this outfit 😎👍🏾.

My wife and I booked a private 2 hour tour and it was brilliant - our guide was so knowledgeable and took us round Stone Town showing us all the sights including the local market. Never a dull moment - his English was excellent and he taught us all about the influences through the history of Zanzibar from the Middle East (Oman), Portuguese, British, through to independence. Not only did he give us the history he also taught us about the culture. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Stone Town - amazing how much we covered in just 2 hours. THANK YOU! PS - point of note - the tourist information centre is not there so if you stand on the road opposite the old fort in line with the Cape Fish Restaurant they will find you. The tour guides wear red polo shirts 👍🏻

The tour took place with a guide who had learned French via the internet and who improvised himself somewhat guide in Stone Town. With the exception of the museum dedicated to the slave period, the explanations about the neighborhoods and doors were basic and the remarks redundant. This is not really what you would expect from a guide, moreover we did not enjoy going through a store (which we already knew), either saying to take the fee.

Imran was excellent: very knowledgeable, friendly, obviously proficient in English and accommodated our 81 year old mother and her slightly slower pace. We booked last minute, via TripAdvisor and it felt like a long-standing perfect planned walking tour. Highly recommend.

While my husband was diving from Stone Town, I took the opportunity to do a walking tour with this company. My guide, Mohammed, was lovely. He knew so much about the history and the town itself. It's also quite emotional when learning what happened to the slaves and how they were treated. Had an opportunity to walk through the narrow streets, learn about the different 'door' architecture, religion and of course the Fort. The market is an eye opener too! Really worth doing this tour. Great comms from the company, easy to meet the guide and you're given their name before hand.
