After being cancelled for two other Suchitoto Tours within days, I was worried that I would not have an opportunity to experience the charm Suchitoto had to offer and I would not be able to experience the Cihuatán Distillery. I saw that Traveling Souls offered a full day experience. I booked the experience the day before it was offered. I received confirmation for the booking and instructions and meeting location for a 6 AM pick up next day. The day of the experience there was mishap at pick up. The Tour operator reached out to me apologizing for any inconvenience I experienced and assured me they would make sure I was taken care of as soon as possible. I then received a message from tour guide Carlos. He informed me that he would pick me up from my hotel and be my personal tour guide the entire day. After he reached my hotel, he also apologized for the inconvenience. He went over the itinerary for the day and let me know if I needed more time or wanted to see/learn anything on the way to and from Suchitoto to let him know. Once we made it to Suchitoto, Carlos put on his Superman cape! He was very knowledgeable and detailed about everything! We toured the market, town Square, and the cobblestone streets that filled the area. I got to try local fruits and beverages. I got to experience the beginning of church mass. After a few hours of soaking in culture, we ate lunch at Donde Polo Suchitoto. The food and views were amazing! The second part of the experience was at the Cihuatán Rum Distillery. The tour was amazing! Not only to you get to taste a variety of rums but you also have the opportunity to juice sugar cane, taste a vodka made under their brand, and be your own bartender making your own mixed cocktail. I ended up have a fun filled day thanks to Carlos. Carlos is great at making people feel comfortable! Even with a late start the experience was about 8-9 hours! For the price, it is definitely worth it.
