Our overnight tour to the Sumpango Kite Festival with CA Travelers was truly an amazing experience from start to finish! Everything felt incredibly well-organized, warm, and thoughtfully curated. We stayed in a beautifully arranged camp setup right in the heart of the town, just steps away from the festival grounds. Waking up and being able to walk straight into the celebrations (and wander back whenever we wanted) made the entire experience feel effortless and immersive. Even though it was camping, it definitely leaned toward a glamping feel: our tent was comfortable, partially covered, and the bathrooms were spotless and conveniently located nearby. Since you’re outdoors, you may hear some of the lively town sounds at night, so light sleepers might appreciate bringing earplugs. But honestly, that’s the charm of being so close to the heartbeat of Sumpango during one of its biggest celebrations. My favorite part was actually the workshop where we got to craft our own mini kites! It offered such a deep perspective at this craft and just how hard it is to make them, our local guide was so knowledgeable and shared so much about the local community with us! The meals were delicious and plenty of food and offered insight into the local cuisine! You can tell CA Travelers really cares about creating meaningful, memorable experiences rather than just checking boxes on an itinerary. We had a wonderful conversation with fellow travelers around the campfire! I couldn’t recommend CA Travelers more. They took all the stress out of planning and allowed us to simply enjoy the beauty, culture, and excitement of the festival. If you’re considering this tour,go for it!! It’s an experience you’ll never forget.

My wife and I have been to the Kite Festival before, but this was our best trip yet! The camp was so close to the festival and made the long day so much easier than staying somewhere else. The guides and activities added a richness and context to the event and the atmosphere and people on the tour made it even better! If you want to learn about the history of Sumpango and enjoy a unique experience - I would highly recommend this tour!

⭐ 5/5 – One of the best cultural experiences I have ever experienced in Guatemala ⭐ I took the full Giant Kite Festival package with CA Travelers and honestly exceeded all my expectations. From the start, their organization and the friendliness of the whole team made the day perfect. What I loved the most was the opportunity to live the festival as a local: I tried cold meat, chilacayote and even the traditional chicha, something I would never have found on my own. Everything was delicious and connects you in a very authentic way with the culture of November 1. The keg shop was amazing. Being able to build my own mini-barrel while learning about tradition was a magical experience. And the Farah guide deserves special mention: his passion, his knowledge and the way he explains the history of the festival, the symbolism, the importance of All Saints Day and how these traditions represent the heart of Guatemala... just spectacular. Another moment I will never forget was the walk through the cemetery, so colorful and full of life. It is shocking to see how families celebrate, decorate and honor their loved ones. It is a unique, joyful and deeply respectful environment at the same time. The private CA Travelers camp is also a gold-worthwhile detail: full of trees, shade and lounging spaces away from crowd noise. Being able to go back there, recharge and then go back to the festival made all the difference. You can tell they thought about every detail to make the day comfortable and smooth. In short, CA Travelers made this experience unforgettable. Their professionalism, impeccable organization and the affection with which they work are felt every moment. Highly recommended. A 10/10

The size and level of detail is spectacular. I saw people alone, groups of friends and couples surprised with the atmosphere. I loved the team of women flying the barrel/kite.

The Sumpango kite festival exceeded all expectations. It’s a unique and unforgettable day where enormous, hand-crafted kites that are truely works of art are exhibited (and flown!!) The CA campsite was ideally located near the cemetery and festival. Farah’s guided tour was perfect as it gave me an understanding of the festival’s history and cultural significance for the locals. The food CA travelers provided was great and I even got to try a vegetarian version of ‘fiambre’ the typical dish for the festival. I also loved the kite making workshop organised at the CA campsite and the fact that I could fly my very own kite at the festival. The shuttles provided by CA are comfortable and there were plenty of departure times to choose from. Overall, CA travelers provide an amazing experience for the festival that I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Guatemala during this time of year!
