We meet at the entrance of the Thissio Visitor Center, next to Thissio metro station, and begin a gentle uphill walk along peaceful paths, away from the city’s noise. Within minutes, we reach the beautiful hills of Philopappos, where ancient history meets open space and calm. Surrounded by panoramic 360° views over Athens, we enjoy a mindful yoga and meditation practice focused on movement, breath, and presence. This open-air experience offers a balanced blend of wellness, nature, and cultural atmosphere — a peaceful and grounding way to connect with your body and mind as Athens slowly wakes up.

5.00We really enjoyed sunrise yoga with George! He has such a positive view of life and an eagerness to share it. We started with a walk to see the Acropolis and learn a bit of history as the sun rose. Then we walked to the area where George had all the mats set up for our practice. It felt so good to move and stretch after so many days of traveling. The practice was great - it could be easily modified for beginners but George also offered challenging poses and opportunities to experiment. A wonderful way to start our day in Athens!

5.00George is amazing. Has your yoga mats set-up in a quiet and beautiful location with panaramic view of Athens from Mount Lykabettus to the Acropolis to Pireaus. I knew nothing about Yoga but he explained and demonstrated easily and even imprinted in my brain how to relax and meditate. The serenity of the most gorgeous sunrise in the world coming up within the Pathenon plus a cute kitty that just shows up and likes to take selfies at sunrise. I had to go back and do several sessions. Great way to start the day. Highly recommend.

5.00Although I workout a lot yesterday was the first time I practiced yoga… my niece and I took the class at sunrise under the Acropolis … I thoroughly enjoyed it and I actually woke up sore in some areas of my body this morning… the setting was beautiful and I walked away with a new sense of optimism for my everyday life, truly. I will definitely be using the new breathing techniques I learned.

5.00Must do for yoga and non-yoga practitioners visiting Athens. It was an amazing and zen experience practicing on the hilltop in the early morning. Although the place was a little difficult to find, it helped popping into Google Maps the coordinates George sent out the day before. The only slightly disappointing thing was that we didn’t have an actual view of the Acropolis during the practice and it started getting hot towards the end.

5.00I asked on the morning of the winter solstice. I was thrilled to see the sun rising from the mountain with the Acropolis on my left. the place where direct democracy was first born, Punica explained to me and I took a walk After doing your breath work, I was one-on-one so I did yoga related to the symptoms that concern the individual body. In the winter, you may want to bring a blanket to put on your last bed. Thank you very much, instructor Josh 😊

5.00Beautiful morning. Views of illuminated Acropolis. Parrot flocks flying overhead. Sun gradually illuminating the Port of Piraeus and the surrounding mountains. George has a soothing voice and brought us to a tranquil state of mind. Expert yogi. Great way to start a day in beautiful Athens!
