This is a very unique tour and not to be missed. Riding from the mountain 185m down the sand dunes to the beach on a 6km incredible adventure. Explore the Walker Bay Nature Reserve with me and learn about the animals, dune structure, fauna as well as watching Whales as we ride during Whale Season. This is a very personal experience with small groups exploring the dunes in some of the most incredible landscapes in the world.

What To Expect

(Approx. 120 minutes from start to finish) This is the ultimate ride from near Grootbos nature reserve down the mountain to the top of the Sand Dunes. The trail to the dunes is special, running on a narrow sandy horse trail through the Fynbos. When reaching the dunes you will be blown away with the views after 1km. I will brief you on how to ride down the dunes, slalom skiing and riding down the steep dunes on the way down to the beach. The dune face may feel impossible and dangerous to do but the ride is in fact very controlled, and the sand will slow the bike down. What your mind tells you is impossible will in fact be very enjoyable and easy. All the big dunes have options around so if you are not sure, there is an easy route all the way down when on the dunes. We will look out for Animal tracks and learn about the animals and fauna on the Dunes. This is excellent fun on a bike and not too difficult to do as long as you can ride a bike you will love this. From the dunes there is a 4x4 path we take down to the beach (10th Best uncrowded beach in the world) where we will be met by the vehicle.

Dave is a great guide who took us in the downhill in the sand dunes with fat bikes. Going downhill in the sand was fantastic and very safe. At sunset, the views were just incredible. We also stopped many times to hear Dave share some insights on the flora and fauna of the region. Our 2 teens loved it. Overall a great way to spend your afternoon and highly recommended for anyone in the region

What an outstanding experience! Dave is the best host and we had such a wonderful time! Totally worth the money! We cycled for about 2 hours in total, but stopped every 3-5 minutes with an outstanding story shared by Dave. It was very welcoming and he was super encouraging. We were 2 groups together (7 people). There were children and adults, I can highly recommend this activity to anyone who is adventurous, no age limit!

The fatbike tour with Dave was one of the highlights of our trip to South Africa. The scenery is absolutely stunning and we learnt a few interesting facts about the local wildlife on the way. The biking is really fun, very do-able with a few more exciting moments going down the steep dunes. It's a real privelege to explore the Walker Bay Nature Reserve in such depth, I would definitley recommend.

Our afternoon fat bike tour with Dave was a blast! He is such a nice, energetic and positive guy - We had lots of fun!! Fat bike riding was very adventures and surrunding was stunnning. Even saw some whales afterwards. Dave also gave us some very interesting facts about the wildlife along the bike trail. We can highly recommend this amazing experience with Dave!

What an experience! Dave drove us and the bikes to the top of the mountain and we rode them down the dunes. We made a few stops along the way and dave shared his knowledge about the local wildlife and we met rex the lizard! The most spectacular views and stunning sunset ever seen. Must do activity!
