Back in its glory days, Bucharest was known as Little Paris. It has the lights, the architecture, the fashion but most of all the SWEETS to prove it. Pastry chefs trained in France brought back the craft and talent and took the aristocracy from Turkish Delights to French Eclairs. In this 3-hour-long experience, we will go through the ages of sweets and pastries but also find out about the 500-year history of the city. Combining French, Oriental, and Balkan influences, Bucharest is the city of contrasts.

What To Expect
Ateneul Roman
The tour starts in front of the Romanian Athenaeum, while enjoying an eclair you will listen to how Romania was once a prosperous monarchy. Admission to the Athenaeum is optional at a cost of 15 lei (3 EUR) cash subject to availability.
Piaka Revolukiei
From there the tour will continue towards the Revolution Square where we will find out about life in the communist times, the 1989 revolution and also have a taste of it through a famous Romanian chocolate bar.

5.00Mara’s tour was an excellent way to understand the history of Bucharest and told from a personal perspective with her family living through some of the turbulent times. I loved the foodie stops along the way, tasting some of Bucharest’s hidden delights. I would definitely recommend doing this tour. I have a walking difficulty but Mara took things slowly and we had plenty of stops as she told us and showed us points of interest on our walk.

5.00Mara was a fabulous guide! Her tour was such a great way to learn about Romania’s history while enjoying INCREDIBLE sweets! It feels like we got to experience some quintessential Romanian desserts which is fantastic if you’re only in the city for a short time. Would highly recommend!

5.00Mara was an amazing tour guide! She was able to provide such fascinating overview of such a complex historical city with the insights of someone whose family has lived through it. The areas we explored were amazing, without too much intense walking. And the desserts were fantastic; especially the eclairs and donuts! Truly an amazing way to explore Bucharest.

5.00Not the kind of tour I would usually do but very glad I did. An interesting mix between Romanian history and culture, with added desserts. Mara's very passionate about her city and makes for an excellent guide. Highly recommended
