The India venster trail has been a bucket list item for me for a while now and since I had the opportunity to stop in cape town for a couple days, I really wanted to do it. I knew the trail was going to be challenging and not that well marked so at the risk of getting lost on the mountain I wanted to hire a guide to come with me. My old buddy Stu hooked me up with Rob who was everything I could have hoped for as a guide/companion for the hike... Super friendly, very knowledgeable about the mountain and the wildlife/vegetation, and extremely helpful letting me know which parts to be cautious and how to best navigate the scrambling and chain sections. I had an absolute blast and the experience far exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend booking with Wild Things Africa and try to book Rob if you can.

Shanine was a fantastic guide and companion for my ascent of Table Mountain via India Venster. It was adventurous and challenging, but I was never frightened or in over my head. Shanine was quite experienced; she helped point out the foot and hand holds for the more difficult scrambles. She pointed out lots of flora and fauna that I would have missed, and kept things light and fun. Do not attempt this route without a guide and especially do not try it alone. The scrambles are not obvious and the route is sometimes unclear. Also be prepared to hike down via the Platteklip Gorge Trail, the shortest and most used trail—on my day, it was windy and the cable car was not running. Going down is scenic but kinda a bitch on my 64 year old knees with its very steep rocky steps. Going up that way would have been much, much, much less interesting and fun than India Venster. If you’re not scared of heights, have decent balance, and are reasonably fit, India Venster is the way to go.

I had the BEST time on this hike. I did the India Venster trail which was really fun. It was a really diverse trail which made the journey to the top beautiful, engaging, breathtaking and with some interesting challenges. I would highly recommend Rob, he’s extremely knowledgable and kind. It was great to have him alongside as a friend and helpful as a coach to know the best ways to climb the mountain and the rocks (foot and hand placement etc). I hve so many amazing pictures and videos from the trail, it was honestly such a fun experience! Make sure you take lots of water with you!

Thank you Rob for this unforgettable hike at India Venster. I didn't want to hike alone on Table Mountain, so I booked a tour by wild things outdoor. I didn't regret it for a second. The communication in advance was super easy. The pace was always adapted and in the difficult parts he explained everything to me in detail. We had a lot of fun discovering geology, the rocks and cracks. Rob always has coffee with him for the summit and knows the best places for it. I can only recommend the tours and would do it again at any time.

Table Mountain Is amazing. This route, in particular, is so varied. My guide was Rob, he is wonderful and helped me to understand the beauty of the mountain although it's covered by the fog

Stuart is a fantastic guide who clearly loves what he does and is keen to impart knowledge and get you excited about the wonderful fynbos all around you on the hiking trail It's a great route up Table Mountain and we always felt safe and never rushed. Sadly we went up on a day when the mountain had it's table cloth on and hiked through the cloud to the top, but we had a fab time despite this! Highly recommended route in any weather :)

We had an incredible experience with Stuart. He guided us on the India Venster route up Table Mountain and, while it was a *little* scary at times for people with a fear of heights (like me), he made us extremely comfortable and safe. He was extremely knowledgeable about flora, fauna, and the history of Cape Town and this was one of our top adventures while in South Africa. Book it today!

Highly recommend Wild Things Outdoors; I did two tours with them: Lions Head at Sunrise and India Venster Table Mountain, both with excellent guides who were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and provided fantastic experiences during my visit to Cape Town.
