Skyler was fantastic! She gave us a lot of good tips for when we left Taipei and headed to Taichung. I’d be happy to do another tour with her!

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to land into Taipei because of a severe typhoon. We messaged Viator 22hours before the tour, who got in contact with the operator to explain our situation asking for a refund. We intended to rebook the tour once we could make it to Taipei. However, we were denied a refund as it was ‘within the cancellation period and the tour went ahead anyway’. We understood the policy but sometimes it doesn’t hurt for a company to have some compassion for what is already a stressful situation. In future, I would book last minute in case of Any natural disasters.

Skyler is a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide! She had the privilege of conducting the tour that I booked in a torrential rainstorm. We hit some great spots that served local favorites such as grilled skewers, egg and scallion pancake, pork rice, boba tea and a tapioca sago. Even though we were all soaked, Skyler kept it fun and shared a lot of Taiwan’s history and food influences. This is a definite tour you should book! 10/10

The directions to the meeting point was accurate and Skler greeted me as I walked up. I was the ONLY person for the tour! After niceties, we walked only a short distance to where a steamed bun was our first stop. I've never had such good steamed buns!! We then talked as we walked past a university to a small place where we had a soup that is hard to describe. It is a flavored broth type of soup with what looks to be clear ice! Wish I remembered the name of the soup...interesting! We then went to a place for bubble tea that I really liked. I don't know all what it is made from and I really liked it. Further along, we went to the head of the line for what I would call an egg sandwich with basil. It was all put together inside a flour shell. I really liked it!! So fresh and hot! By then I was FULL...normally I would have eaten more and we had one more stop which I declined. End of tour....lol. We talked some more and laughed and she then took me to a metro stop and made sure I was on the right train. Don't be afraid to do things like this! I've done food tours all over and have immensely enjoyed them. I've seen people who were afraid and missed out on fantastic local foods! Go for it!
