We loved our experience with Julie! We learned a lot about both Taiwanese culture and food. Julie went out of her way to make sure that we got to sample as much as possible and gave us great recommendations for the rest our trip!

Skyler was energetic and fun. A great foodie. She made sure everyone was settled and was enjoying themselves. Meeting point was clear and on time departure. At each stop Skyler checked everyone's portion size they would like and adjusted the order as needed. We were a group of 8 (two couples and four singles) and hungry. By the end we were full. A great introduction to the great Taipei food scene.

Food wise: food was good, but we deffinately had better in Taiwan. Personally I did not like the behavor of the guide which I found unprofessional. Firstly, when we asked her where we could throw our garbage, she replied 'ohh you should carry it home, you should have brought a bag'. Well if we need a bag, you should be mentioning it in viator like you did with wear comfy shoes and bring a hat. Or else you can bring a bag yourself for garbage since you know there will be lots of garbage from the group. It's not really practical walking around with an oily bag from fried chicken. What's even worse when we ended the tour, the guide gave us the scallion pancake which she said was to go without any bag. A couple of us went into 7/11 to buy bags for them. And most importantly after having done more than 50 food tours and also led food tours in one of the food capitals, this is the first food tour we were required to buy our own water. I've never seen it elsewhere. Even though some of us shared meals, our guide still did not buy water. Lastly when the tour ended the guide didnt even say goodbye she just left. So unprofessional. Better to choose a different food tour for your Taipei visit

Had a great time hanging out with Skyler. She was quite knowledgeable and gave a detailed explanation of the various food he had throughout the tour, which by the way was a lot of food. Was happily stuffed by the end. She was also friendly, easy to speak with, and very down-to-earth. Couldn't have asked for a better guide!

Taipei is easily one of the best food cities that we have experienced anywhere in the world, and this tour was the perfect way to dive into it. Here are 3 reasons why we loved this particular tour: 1. The food: The variety of food was incredible, and every step felt thoughtfully chosen and curated. It was as if someone took the “indie hits” album and played it for us. It wasn’t only the usual hits, it showcased a different side of Taiwanese cuisine. From savory pork filled (or veggie options) bao and lu rou fan braised pork rice to bubble tea made with special ingredients, the range was unique and special. One of our absolute favorite moments was the “secret dish” at Little Tiger Café [no spoilers here] which was unforgettable. 2. Julie: Our guide Julie made the experience stand out. She is deeply passionate about Taiwanese food and culture. Her personal story added depth to the experience. She returned to Taiwan after spending her childhood in Southern California and regaled us with stories. She shared meaningful insights, including how her mom used food in California to stay connected to Taiwan: food as memory. This made the experience feel personal and authentic rather than informational. 3. The group: Was it that like minded folk get attracted to the Secret Food tour? We loved our fellow explorers. We had such a great mix of people and by the end of the tour, it felt like we had all bonded over this shared love of food. We laughed, we cried (with laughter and chili sauce mainly). That sense of connection elevated the whole experience. If you love food, this tour is a must when visiting Taipei. Come hungry and you will leave full (with food but also with culture and connection), happy and with a deeper appreciation and love for Taiwanese cuisine.

Good selection of choices, although I might have substituted shaved ice for boba tea, which is well-known around the world.

Our guide Skylar was amazing. She was funny and super knowledgeable and was eager to help us try all the best Taipei had to offer. We got to try all sorts of Taiwanese specialties and it was all super delicious. From food to drinks, this tour had it all, and for a great price! The time flew by too fast because not only was the food delicious but I met some amazing people and we didn't want to say goodbye to each other. The group was not too large, but not too small. Just the perfect amount to become new food besties. If you are in Taipei and want to experience it's delicacies for a great price, this is a must do.
