Enjoy the Salvadoran Outdoors! Visit Tamanique Waterfalls, close to El Tunco beach, also known as Surfcity, in the southern part of El Salvador. Jump into natural pools of water, swim under big waterfalls. We visit 4-5 Waterfalls, many jumps available from 10ft to 30ft high. Rockclimbing possible in many of the pools where we jump. Enjoy the challenge! Also, get to know the local town of Tamanique, an authentic Salvadoran countryside town.

What To Expect

Please be aware that the waterfalls guides speak Spanish and very little English. We start the hike to the waterfalls in the town of Tamanique, there are bathrooms and a convenience store to get water and snacks. We walk approx 40 minutes to the first area of the river where we can jump down from natural cliffs, you can jump here as many times as you like. The jumps here have a height of around 3 to 8 meters and jumping is completely optional. There is a natural waterslide here, and if the current is good, we can slide. Then we walk 10 to 20 minutes to checkout a beautiful waterfall where you can swim. There is a bigger waterfall where we can go if still have the energies, this waterfall is approx 50mts high and its the tallest waterfall in the area. You can also swim under the waterfall here. The way back is very steep and many times you will need to use your hands to climb up. It takes approx 60 minutes to get back to the town. We recommend bringing at least 2lts of water and a snack. The temperature during the hike is very hot and humid. Please email us if you would like to get more information about this activty.

After the challenging and tough descending trial, you will encounter Tamnique’s waterfalls which are incredibly beautiful. You can even take a dip into the water, which is extremely cold but so refreshing. Fernando guided all of us with patience and kindness.

This experience was supreme! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour guide Joshua. He was informative, attentive and knew when to just let us enjoy the moment. We weren't able to go up into the mountains due to the rainy season but we spent a great time at St Teresa Hot Springs it was glorious. Massage the food just the whole vibe in the music was so relaxing. Do the mud bath your skin will feel like butter!!! We definitely want to come back.

Fernando was an amazing guide! We got out early in the morning to start our journey to Tamanique and were the first ones to the falls. The hike was beautiful and lead by both Fernando and a local from the city. Cliff jumping was a lot of fun and was not scary at all as there are different levels to jump from. There were 4 different falls to see and they were all magnificent! This is definitely an excursion I would recommend to anyone looking to have a memorable trip.

Fernando was the absolute best tour guide, ever! The excursion was one of the most fun things I’ve done! You guys will absolutely love this event! Steep places to hike, but Fernando took the greatest care to make sure we were safe and enjoyed ourselves! We learned so much about this absolutely beautiful country! Thank you so much, Fernando!!!

I had the best host ever! Fernando was absolutely the best man and i am not exaggerating. He is potential, helpful and very polite. He made my El Salvador experience one i won’t ever forget. I went solo so I didn’t really anyone but Fernando treated me like family. I went above and beyond what he was suppose to do. The price you pay is literally worth every penny and I won’t hesitate to book him again. He helped me records my video and take pictures.
