Duration: 12 hours: Enjoy this full day tour with a local guide and explore the Island of Tanna, the day tour runs from approx 8am - 8:30pm.
Coffee: Enjoy a cup of authentic local hot Tanna Coffee before heading up the mountain.
A 4x4 is your transport.: A 4x4 pick up is your transport to take you up to the top of the Mount Yasur.

A lot of last minute changes to the planned itinerary for the day but still an enjoyable one. Drive Joe took us to the giant banyan tree, the ash plain, the hot springs and finally to Mt Yasur itself. The changes also meant we ended up meeting the company owner Charlie and having lunch at his house. Each stop was really enjoyable but Yasur was definitely the highlight, watching the glowing red emerge as the sun set.

We were very well looked after by William our tour guide and Tom the driver. First taken to the cannibal tribe (best to do your research about what to expect if you frighten easy). The tribe put on a wonderful performance and gave us education about their customs. Then taken to Shark Bay to view the sharks swimming. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant by the beach (meal included in the tour price). The first hot springs were underwater due to high tide but we visited a second hot spring and swam in the warm river that connected to the ocean. One of the local women took me and my son to see a waterfall past the hot springs. We ended the day on top of Mt Yasur and experienced the loud bangs of the volcanic eruptions and saw some lava rocks burst up through the smoke. Quite windy and cold at the top but William made sure to let us know it would be like that so we were prepared with jumpers. So grateful for the experience William and his team had given us. We will be back again!
