During the dry months the concentration of animals around the Tarangire river is almost as diverse and reliable as in the Ngorongoro Crater. However, the ecosystem here is balanced by a localised migration pattern that is followed by the majority of game that resides in and around the park.

What To Expect

Tarangire National Park

We will collect you from your hotel in Arusha and following a 2-3 hour drive, you will arrive at the Tarangire National Park. In this region, Hemmingway often went on big game hunting safaris. After the formation of the national parks in 1970, they turned the seasonal marshes and the endless savannah that one sees today into, once again, profitable hunting grounds. Today however, cameras thankfully have replaced the elephant guns. The Tarangire National Park has the highest density of elephants in North Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round in which the herds often can reach an impressive number of 300 animals. The Tarangire River has water all year round and during the dry season, between July and October, many animals from the surrounding areas come to the river for drinking. If you visit the park during the dry season, you will witness an unforgettable natural wonder as you can observe wonderful creatures such as lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests and zebras as well as various types of antelopes and gazelles and with a little luck, you can also spot a python! This area is during the dry season also a haven for bird watchers with over 550 different species including the Masai Ostrich -the world largest bird. Around lunchtime, you will stop at a suitable picnic place before the afternoon is dedicated to more wildlife watching. Before sunset, you will be taken back to your hostel in Arusha or Moshi

We had an incredible day at *Tarangire National Park* — beautiful scenery, lots of wildlife (elephants, lions, giraffes!), and a peaceful atmosphere. Our guide Simon from rupia adventure ltd was fantastic! Super knowledgeable, friendly, and knew exactly where to go for the best views. He made the experience smooth, fun, and unforgettable. Highly recommend both the park and rupia adventure for your trip

Our day at Tarangire National park was unforgettable. Everything was well organized, we were picked up from our hotel on time and provided with lunchboxes and water for the trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us about all of the species names/ information. We saw an array of animas including elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas and wilderbeasts. The vehicle that we drove in was perfect to navigate the park. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

Was an unforgettable experience! Rupia Safari was on time and amazingly organized we needed to stop off at a cash machine on the way and the guide happily helped us. They provided a lunch box and lots of water with a fridge at the back of the jeep. The guide took photos and talked through all the animals! The park was vast and the jeep was comfortable and even had charging plugs! We seen elephants up close, lots an impala, and lots of species of birds. On the way home the guide even stopped off at a supermarket for us, they went above and beyond! Would defo recommend this company!

Thanks to RA for excited tour, our day trip to Tarangire was amazing, good organization, good guide/Jeep and sweet packed lunch, we started early morning from our hotel to Tarangire park gate around 2 hours drive, the park is good a lot of elephants and baobab tree, thanks to our guide Stanley and Fabiola at the office
