What To Expect

Tarangire National Park

Today we set out early, collecting you from your Arusha hotel and heading south to stunning Tarangire National Park. We arrive at picnic site by noon, in time for a pleasant lunch. Your afternoon game-drive will reveal all the wonders of Tarangire, a National Park often referred to as the ‘Elephant Playground’. Herds of up to 300 of these mighty mammals are sometimes seen in the park. Tarangire in the dry season easily rivals it for animal densities. As well as the herds of elephant Tarangire is home to buffalo, lion, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle while gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx are ‘local specialties’. Lake Burungi’s marshy shores are the lure for these mammals and the waters attract many beautiful bird species, too. Look out for giant kingfishers, hoopoes and the delightfully-named white-bellied go-away bird. Tarangire is noted for its splendid baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia woodland. At the end of an inspiring afternoon amongst the wildlife.

a day spent inside the beautiful Tarangire park, guided by the fabulous Olai, we managed to see lions, elks and giraffes as well as other animals, perhaps a day is too short, because the journey is long but the experience was worth it

Due to a last minute unresponsive tour operator, me and my friend were left with no tour. Samson and Joel of Golden Trips very kindly came to our assistance and although we contacted very last min, they managed to organise a driver to take us to tarangire park. While the driver did not speak as much English, he knew where to bring us for close encounters with elephants, zebras and many other animals. We were thrilled to see many animals and we even saw an elephant parade up close. It was a very satisfying day at tarangire park. Thanks Samson and Joel!

Great last minute 1-day safari. I saw way more animals than expected and my guide Noah and driver Sam were laser focused on making sure I had a good time and got to the airport on time. Will return for a longer safari!

We were picked up at our hotel in Moshi, took a scheduled bus to Arusha, where we were met by the tour guides and the journey continued in large and safe Toyota land cruisers. Very knowledgeable and skilled guides who made it a fantastic experience, rich wildlife, fantastic landscape. Lunch included at a great vantage point.
