On this self-guided audio tour, hear how a small settlement became a key colony and top holiday spot for Romans. Experience the magic of GPS playback on this immersive stroll through Tarragona.
Travel back 2,200 years in history to when Tarragona was Tarraco, one of Rome’s most important colonies and an ancient holiday destination – much like it is today. Over the years, the Romans, Moors, and Medieval Christians influenced the city. On this walking tour, I’ll point out where they left their mark in Tarragona’s Old Town. I’ll show you some of the numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites they left behind and talk about some of the events that shaped them.
But this tour isn't all about Rome. Most of what you’ll see on your way to Mercat de Tarragona was built in Medieval times. You’ll be amazed at how parts of the town still look and feel like a village from the Middle Ages.
By the end of the tour, you’ll have fallen in love with Tarragona.

Absolutely fantastic! The audio guide worked really well and we enjoyed going our own pace. I loved the rich descriptions of the layers of history, we felt very immersed in the city. Would definitely recommend.

Easy and engaging, just enough information for interest without being boring. Technology worked well. Can use speaker on your phone if earphones forgotten ( as I did!) .

Very well laid out. We liked the ability to start and stop the tour and to have lunch at our own discretion. The narrative was excellent.

Great Value and excellent Self Guided Tarragona Tour. Took roughly 2 hours, with speedy prompts when I went off course!

This tour may have worked for others but not for us. Maybe it was the narrow streets affecting GPS but we spent way too much time trying to recover from when the app thought we were lost when we were not lost. A frustrating experience that we finally just turned off

Really good and helpful tour. The guidance is clear and it’s easy to go back of you’re a bit off track (which is easily done in the narrow streets). Narration is friendly, light and informative. I would prefer it a bit more detailed but there were some nice titbits of info. Very good for anybody who likes to enjoy the views at their own pace.

A really entertaining and interesting audio tour. John was an engaging host and managed to cram a decent amount of history into the tour, without making it overwhelming (or boring) for the listener. He used a good percentage of humour - he didn’t make it about him and helped you envisage Tarragona as Tarraco. Highly recommend.
