Avignon
Come and enjoy a unique gastronomic experience in the majestic city of Avignon! In the heart of Provence, Avignon is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful jewels in the south of France, with its exceptional historical center, its renowned theatre festival and, of course, its delicious Provençal cuisine: aromatic herbs, tomatoes, olive oil, a good glass of Côte du Rhône and sun-ripened fruit. Possible tastings may change according to the season and availabilities of our partners. Let our local food expert walk you through the historic streets of this magnificent "City of the Popes", stopping at its delicious shops, tasting Rhône Valley wine and local specialties.
Inside the local covered market, where the locals run their errands and buy fresh ingredients to cook at home, you will discover the pillars of Provençal cuisine: local olive oil and fresh vegetables, used to prepare the famous tapenade. Here you will also try a slice of the famous pissaladière, a tasty and juicy onion tart with anchovies and olives. One of the most beloved snacks in town (lunch only)

We really enjoyed this food tour, made even better by our guide around Avignon, Melissa, truly an asset for Avignon. The stops were well organised and we received plenty of good food. Melissa went out of her way to accommodate a fuzzy non big cheese eater (Me) arranging a different meal at the main stop with a lovely wine. The cheese dishes were very good, I'm reliably informed! The start point Les Halles market was great with lots of samples Fougasse, anchovy tart etc. Tasting on our way to the finish point, a variety lovely cakes at a cafe (See separate revue as revisited) sho with sweets, lavender drink i, so tasty of course we purchased items to take home, and after looking elsewhere were competitively priced. Not always the case. We also revisited a Nougat shop she had recommended, great choice so good and very reasonably priced, for a great product. So to sum up Food part great, Information on tour excellent Melissa really knew her stuff, Walking part perfect not that long between stops and historic Avignon is quite small anyway. maybe 15 mins max between stops but you will be standing at most stops so you need to be reasonably fit to be on your feet for say 2 and a hour hours out of 3 and a half for the tour. Just do this tour you get your bearings around Avignon, learn about it and taste great food. Plus you don't need a big dinner after. Thanks Melissa from the Orkney 4. P.S. As you end near the Pont Avignon, you might as well visit the attraction at this point.

We had the chance to rediscover Avignon through this visit, and it was a very nice surprise. Although we are from the area and thought we knew the city well, our guide Zara made us see it from a completely different angle. His warmth, enthusiasm and breadth of knowledge really made this experience unique. We also enjoyed the gourmet breaks, with the discovery of Provencal specialties that added an even more authentic touch to this visit. Many thanks to Zara for this moment both rewarding and friendly. We highly recommend this experience to both visitors and locals! Stephanie and Severine
