The tour was okay. Didn't have as many food tastings as other tours we've done. What we ate was very tasty. Didn't see much of the city. Guide was very friendly and helpful.

What a great experience with our guide Zsuzsa.. We had the good fortune of being the only people on the tour so it was a very personal experience . Zsuzsa was a mine of information about Budapests history and more importantly its traditional foods. This tour is not a sit down formal arrangement it’s a walk around (and tram ride) several of the city’s districts tasting from the local specialists, each very different. Would recommend to anyone who wants to do something a little different and learn a lot as well.

Looking for a food tour of Budapest? Pick this one! A real taste of the foods of Budapest through local sellers. From the ‘hole in the wall’ langos to the tasty local strudel and the fascinating chimney cake, everything was so delicious. Hard to pick a favourite, but perhaps the sausages? Or the secret shot! The food was not only delicious, it was also the perfect amount - not so much that you’re totally stuffed and can’t enjoy all of the dishes, but not too little either! Our guide Zsuzsa was great - she talked about the foods, the history of the city and pointed out different buildings and interesting sites. She was also interested in all of us; we had some great conversations. We LOVED this tour!

AVOID, especially at this price. my assessment has nothing to do with the guide herself or the group, that's why i am giving two stars instead of one. perfectly lovely people i enjoyed spending time with, this review is professional, not personal. a few of the places we went to were closed, the guide was clueless, didn't give any information at all just small talk. doesn't know too much about the area or its history. the quality of what we had was street level at best and we didn't get everything promised. all in all we had a small choripan, a piece of cold strudel, a chimney cake, a half serving of pasta (where we finally got something to drink), and i got a plate of cookies that tasted storebought with a coffee at the end (why so much sweets?). the food really wasn't all that good either. restaurants with savory or hot food only served pork. we have restaurants that have only one type of protein, places like KFC, etc. we literally walked in circles too (in the heat)! we had older couple who had to force the guide to stop a couple of times, the guide demonstrated no sensibility outside herself. i didn't take hardly any pictures because nothing we had or did was photo-worthy. with the exception of the saturday food market there's no particular reason for any the places we went to, they could have been any random pick of mediocre to subpar spots with no significance. the cafe we went to at the end had some meaning, but not for (stale) storebought cookies. tour ended slightly early too because there wasn't enough substance. i originally wrote this as an airbnb review, the company left this response: "Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent experience on our food tour. Your perspective is important to us, and I'd like to apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during the tour. I wanted to assure you that I've personally spoken with our guide, Nóra, to understand the details of what happened. It appears that there were some unexpected challenges that affected the tour's usual course. The primary issue was the closure of our usual lángos partner located in the market. This unforeseen closure forced Nóra to improvise the tour route on the spot. To compound matters, our backup options (options B and C) were also closed, which is an extremely rare occurrence. In fact, this is the first instance of such an issue happening since 2018. Our food tour is carefully designed to offer a diverse and delightful culinary experience in central Budapest. It encompasses a range of venues, including street food stalls, casual dining spots, and historical coffee houses. I understand that despite these challenges, Nóra ensured that the group visited these different types of establishments as intended. It's unfortunate that the lángos, a key element of the tour, was missing due to circumstances beyond our control. I want to express our sincerest apologies for not being able to provide this food tasting as promised in the description. Nóra and the entire staff are genuinely sorry for any disappointment this may have caused. Your experience is important to us, and we are committed to making it right. While we understand that this particular tour did not meet your expectations, we hope that you still managed to enjoy your time in Budapest. We would love the opportunity to have you join us again in the future. We're confident that we can deliver the exceptional food tour experience we're known for and demonstrate that our unique culinary journey is well worth taking. Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. Your feedback helps us improve and continue offering memorable food tours to our valued guests. Wishing you all the best and hoping you have a wonderful time in Budapest." the said events had nothing to do with any sort of closures, this was just an abject lack of planning! no attempt at restitution but instead doubling down on their ineptitude. seriously, if they're doing so well, what would be the big deal to recompense one bad tour? not even an offer to cover the cost of a beer! what a slap in the face. this company is just using marketing tactics to bait n' switch. your experience in budapest is precious, think about that before being victimized of your precious time and money.

Make sure that you don't eat breakfast that day because your going to need the extra space for all the good eats that will be coming your way on this great tour.

Zsuszsa was an incredible host. Very welcoming, friendly and led the tour in a relaxed and chilled vibe. Zsuszsa gave us an experience off the regular tourist route and gave us a genuine taste of Budapest. Highly recommend.

If you have the chance to do one tour, do this one! Not only do you get to experience local food culture, you get to see the city from a different view. The places we visited were rich in history & had the most incredible dishes. We did walk a fair distance but there were long breaks to rest in between. Highly recommend.
