What To Expect
Tatev Monastery
To have an accurate idea of the culture, architecture and history of Armenia, a visit to the Tatev Monastery is one of the must-haves. St. Paul and Peter Church, built in 906, is considered one of the best structures of the time. The colossal church stands on the very edge of the gorge, at the edge of the abyss. One of the favourite places of Armenians once was a university, and a few centuries later, it even became a centre of the liberation movement, led by the greatest hero of the Armenian people, Garegin Nzhdeh.
The Wings of Tatev is the world’s longest reversible aerial tramway, stretching 5.7 km over the stunning Vorotan Gorge in southern Armenia. This 12-minute ride offers breathtaking views and connects travelers to the 9th-century Tatev Monastery. It’s not just a cable car—it's a journey through history and nature.

Highly recommended trip, everything was taken care of down to the smallest details, starting with the water bottles provided before departure (which is not a given). Our guide Anahit was fantastic, kind, helpful, and patient. The best guide we have ever found so far! A special mention also goes to the driver Ruben. A long day, but one to remember!

5.00We had an amazing experience on the Tatev, Khndzoresk, Shaki Waterfall, and Areni Winery tour. Our tour guide, Ani Muradyan, is truly the best of the best. She explained everything very clearly, took care of everyone throughout the entire tour, and was always kind, supportive, and professional. She is a very knowledgeable person, and her positive energy made the trip even more enjoyable. One of the best parts of this tour was that enough free time was given at each location, allowing us to explore the sites comfortably by ourselves without feeling rushed. Overall, this is a moderately difficult tour because the total travel time is around 16 hours, which can be tiring. My recommendation is to keep the next day free and take some rest instead of booking another trip immediately after this tour. The tour can be joined by people of all ages. However, older travelers or anyone who is not physically fit may want to avoid visiting the caves, as they can be challenging. The vehicle was not overcrowded, which was good, but the distance between seats was a bit short, so leg space could be improved for long journeys. Overall, this tour gives much more value than the price paid and is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended! If you visit Armenia, this is a must-do tour, especially with Ani Muradyan as your guide. She is truly excellent.

5.00We had an amazing trip to Tatev, and it was truly one of the best experiences of our Armenia visit. Our guide, Anahit, was very knowledgeable, strong, friendly, and supportive throughout the trip. She explained everything clearly and made the whole journey very comfortable and interesting. A special thanks to our driver, Ashot. He was excellent on the roads, especially through the mountain routes. We felt very safe and comfortable with his driving. Overall, it was a wonderful trip with a great guide and an amazing driver. Highly recommended!
