As we started the tour with Thilina, we walked up towards the eco lodge and garden through the tea plantation, he explained why every single tree or plant was there, why it was planted and how each of the plants complimented each other and worked together in harmony. We were learning and beginning to understand how diverse this area was and how it feeds the people that live here from the moment we started the tour. The eco lodge lodge and garden has been created using only recycled, reused, and repurposed materials, a perfect example of how we could live along side nature, and working with nature. This is NOT like a lot of spice gardens that we have seen, where you given some basic information and the asked to buy over priced oils and potions. There is nothing to buy here, there is no shop, this is about learning and understanding how the Sri Lankaian people live along side the environment and how we could all benefit from taking time to understand. Thilina knowledge is amazing and his passion for a cleaner, eco world was inspiring. Please consider this trip and you will not be disappointed.

A truly memorable experience. Thilina is clearly very passionate about the countryside, farming and his community. He took the group of 9 of us on a walk through the forest talking to us about the plants, trees, herbs and spices meeting villagers along the way. We saw the tea plantations and ended up in the bio farm. Farm wax very interesting and the owners had prepared a superb 32 choice meal for us. Excellent food, atmosphere and very very friendly villagers. It was good to have been somewhere to support the local community.

It was beautiful experience with the wider community at Ambagasthenna Village, led by Mr Thilina, who have together helped to harmonise with nature. The spice trees and fruit’s, explained in detail with taste experience. The diversity of plantation and the use of science and art to optimise their growth, was truly fascinating. The animals on the farm were well looked after. We had the ‘milking the goat’ experience. The goats had names. The little lamb that we held was called Leon. He was so child like, basking in the attention, that he received from the whole group of visitors. It was educational to see how the waste was recycled to help produce biogas and manure. The views from the farm were spell bounding. The 32 dishes meal laid out for us so aesthetically, was scrumptious. I tried each dish and was in bliss at the end of the meal. The drinks including the home grown tea were so flavourful. The washroom was clean in the farm. The arrival accommodation before the walk was also very tastefully done up with glass windows and classy furniture. The hospitality of the team was so heartwarming. I wanted this to be my ‘go to place’ post retirement. Thank you team for this wonderful experience.

My visit to the village tour and organic farm experience in Kandy was truly memorable and enriching. Mr. Thilina Thennakoon guided me throughout the entire tour extended for 2 hours. His detailed explanations about the traditional village lifestyle, the tea plantations, and the unique forest garden concept around Kandy were delivered with clarity and professionalism. What stood out most was his inspiring storytelling style — he did not simply share information, but brought the environment, culture, and sustainability practices to life. His passion and deep knowledge made my whole experience both educational and meaningful. The organic farm visit was equally impressive. It was a wonderful opportunity to gain eye-opening insight into sustainable and organic farming techniques. Learning about natural cultivation methods, soil management, and eco-friendly agricultural practices was both impressive. For the first time in my life, I experienced manual vanilla pollination, which was quite fascinating. Spending time with the farm animals (especially with Sally-newly born baby goat) added a warm, joyful and heartwarming touch to the experience. I would highly recommend this experience to future visitors who wish to explore authentic village life, understand sustainable agriculture, and connect with nature in a genuine way. This tour is more than a visit; it is an inspiring journey into culture, sustainability, and mindful living.

We had a nice and very informative tour along the tea plantations and on the self-catering farm. We were told about numerous tree and plant species, their processing and benefits for the people who live here. A great recommendation for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in nature and get to know the people and the surrounding area.

Fantastic authentic 4 hours. Owner and his staff made us so welcome with a personal tour of his biodiversity farm. 32 homemade dishes were served set on with white table cloths and china. The best trip of our tour. Quite special.

I have to say this was the best day of our entire tour with intrepid. With humble, enthusiastic tour guides happy to impart their knowledge in an easy and understandable way. This is so much more than a tea plantation and I would recommend a visit here to anyone visiting this area of Sri Lanka. I came as part of a tour and everyone has been in agreement. The lunch was also insanely delicious and I hope to return one day.
