What To Expect
Embark on an immersive escape room adventure set on the edge of Edinburgh's old surgical district. Descend into a world of grave robbery, mystery, and malpractice as you enter the basement study of a 19th-century anatomist to investigate reports of a mysterious crime... The year is 1829 and the city is a leading center for medical learning. Anatomical teaching relies on fresh 'cadavers' which are always in short supply. Grave robbery is rife and there have even been cases of murder for dissection. You have just one hour to locate Dr. Malcolm's journal before he returns from lecturing at the nearby Surgeons' Hall, and he won't take kindly to uninvited guests. A fun, thrilling activity for groups of 2-8 people, Ages 12+. Your team must work together to solve the puzzles and uncover the mystery. See, touch and even smell Edinburgh's macabre past! Esacape The Past are located at BF01, 25 Nicolson Square, just a 5 minute walk from the royal mile. The activity lasts approximately 1 hour and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

5.00Arranged this as a 13th birthday party for my daughter and her friends. It was a little tricky for them but not to the point of them not enjoying it and they were able to ask for clues. They all really enjoyed it and would be keen to do it again with hopefully a bit more success!

5.00The puzzle was the right level of solvable, and we were given the right level of nudges when we were a bit stuck. The story and the time setting created a pleasantly creepy atmosphere, and the story being Edinburgh focused was a nice touch. I went supervising my little brother and his friends for his 14th birthday party. Rosie did an absolutely fantastic job of both communicating the rules and what we can expect, and also creating a fun atmosphere (with that age group, not always the easiest task). Overall just a very enjoyable time.

5.00We chose this escape room as a fun birthday activity. Ronak was an incredible host, he really added to the atmosphere and immersed us in the story behind the game. He gave us the option of either providing hints or we can ask for them when necessary which was much appreciated. The room had lots of fun puzzles, we really appreciated the sound cues and bits of the story which were slotted in when we solved certain clues. All in all, 10/10 experience would definitely come again for a different escape room.

5.00Amazing puzzle, the clues we difficult but not impossible. The atmosphere and props were great as well. Had my wife and I spookes for a parts but a great time overall.

5.00Fabulous experience, very authentic props and atmosphere in the room. Some of the clues were a little tricky, but our trustee guide was able to give us pointers over an intercom. ( All done in the style of old Burke and Hare) We were a team of 5 and were all kept busy for the full hour. I would absolutely recommend.

5.00Our Daughter and her six friends had an ACE time at Escape The Past! Rosie was absolutely class from start to finish and made the girls day! A bonus was they finished it in 56:30! We’ll be back for sure
