What To Expect
Embark on an immersive escape room adventure set on the edge of Edinburgh's old surgical district. Descend into a world of grave robbery, mystery, and malpractice as you enter the basement study of a 19th-century anatomist to investigate reports of a mysterious crime... The year is 1829 and the city is a leading center for medical learning. Anatomical teaching relies on fresh 'cadavers' which are always in short supply. Grave robbery is rife and there have even been cases of murder for dissection. You have just one hour to locate Dr. Malcolm's journal before he returns from lecturing at the nearby Surgeons' Hall, and he won't take kindly to uninvited guests. A fun, thrilling activity for groups of 2-8 people, Ages 12+. Your team must work together to solve the puzzles and uncover the mystery. See, touch and even smell Edinburgh's macabre past! Esacape The Past are located at BF01, 25 Nicolson Square, just a 5 minute walk from the royal mile. The activity lasts approximately 1 hour and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

5.00This was a fantastic escape room! The room, which is based on Edinburgh’s true history, had a really great mix of different challenges. Our host Beth was wonderful, she really helped bring the story to life and gave small nudges along the way to help us when needed. We had a really enjoyable time and would definitely recommend!

5.00Fantastic fun & our host/guide Annie was excellent. We cam here last year for our first family escape room & loved it so back again this year & it was fab yet again. The only down point is that they have 2 escape rooms here & we've now done them both - can you sort out another one ?

5.00We did this escape room on Monday with another family and it was excellent - it's really hard to find an escape room in Edinburgh for 8 people so this was ideal for us. Our host was excellent and at our request only helped us when we asked. There was lots of different activities within the rooms to keep us all busy. Thankfully we managed to escape with only a few minutes to spare! Would definitely recommend.

5.00Me (53), my husband (53) son (16) daughter (15) and the daughter’s bf (15) completed this escape room today. It’s only the second one we’ve ever done and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. It was challenging enough to keep us on our toes and Rosie gently guided us (when needed) when we blundered a bit. She was so good and totally added sparkle to the experience.

The room’s wonderfully creepy backstory is well-matched by the atmospheric design, the puzzles are balanced, not too tough but not too easy either, and our game master, Oliver, did an excellent job of setting the scene and giving a little nudge where needed.
Amazing, Highly recommended.

4.00Went with a group of six which felt like a good group size for the experience! It allowed for everybody to focus on different aspects :) Also for the price it’s best to split it with a big group! Overall it was really fun and the room we selected had a fun vibe! Ronak was the room guide and was very good at setting tone as well as being understanding it wasn’t our first escape room so gave us the choice for clues and didn’t over explain anything ! A good activity for the colder months! love from zippo the cat !!

5.00Having never done an escape room before so had no idea what I was letting myself in for. We was a family of six aging from 72-13. We all had a great time. Ore games master was Ronak .Ronak was very informative and got into character as soon as we entered the room. We all come away waning to do another one.
