Cliffs of Moher
I will pick you up at 10 am and we will drive through a romantic sea port village named Kinvarra and head towards the famous Burren – a vast limestone plateau formed 320 million years ago. Here you will find Alpine, Arctic and Mediterranean plants growing side-by- side. Soon after we leave Kinvarra, you will see the hills of Burren be amazed by this very unique and unusual landscape. Our first stop will be the Flaggy Shore, a beautiful road with limestone pavements and sculptured rocks along the shores of Galway Bay, with white Burren hills as a backdrop. On a fine day you can even spot the Connemara mountain peaks across the bay. Our journey continues through the harbour village of Ballyvaughan and takes us to the megalithic Poulnabrone Dolmen, situated on one of the highest points of the Burren. We will stop here and take a short walk to this world famous Dolmen. Just a short drive from Poulnabrone is Caherconnell Fort, built in the 10th Century. This is one of the best preserved stone forts in the Burren. After a short walk on the grounds we can enjoy some food and refreshments in the Mountain Haven Cafe. Our next target is Corkscrew Hill, a steep and winding road with spectacular views of the ocean and mountains. After a short stop at the viewing point we head for a hill named Slieve Elva and drive along the winding road almost to the summit. On a clear day, driving from here down towards the ocean and the Wild Atlantic Way near Fanore is very eye-pleasing for sure. Back on the main coastal road, we continue our journey to the Cliffs of Moher. This natural wonder, towering 214 meters above the ocean and stretching eight kilometers along the coast, will take your breath away. Take your time to explore this unique area by walking on the winding trails and pathways along the towering cliffs. Afterwards, we will visit the award winning visitor center with its graphic displays, gift shops and restaurants. We could have a lunch here or on the way back in the rustic Monks Restaurant near Ballyvaughan, in the heart of the Burren. After a full day of grand views and lots of beauty, I hope you will still have some space left in your “beauty storage” as we drive back to Galway along the Wild Atlantic Way. On a fine day it is magical, as the white hills of the Burren turn pink at sunset. As we drive along the winding coast, you’ll have these pink hills on your right and rolling waves of turquoise blue waters on your left – a sight to remember and cherish!

Ulla is the heart and soul of Ireland, and I can't be pushed to say that about anyone else. From the start, I felt like I was being welcomed into a family, for just a brief but precious moment. We navigated winding roads and drank up seascape and hilltop view after view, and Ulla's enthusiasm and kindness never wavered. I felt like I was sampling a chocolate box of Irish delights-our visit to Poulnabrone Dolmen, a Ring Fort, and an intriguing cave whet my appetite for more. It is restorative when you are in the presence of someone who nourishes your curiosity, inquistiveness, and dreams as a traveler. If you want to explore and seize the adventure that has been waiting here for you, this is the tour! Ulla was also impeccable in her professionalism and great with my partner, who had different way of absorbing information, and I was pleased to see him engaging and enjoying things at his own pace. Ulla was supremely flexible in all this, and she tailored this tour so that we saw and did exactly what we wanted to do. I never once felt like I was silly for asking a question, or for wanting to do a touristy thing, or for making a mistake. Her communication was 100% and I couldn't be more grateful. I was jet lagged and hungry and probably not at my best, but I feel like this journey made me feel shiny and new and I quickly forgot about that and was completely hooked and at ease. Her knowledge of every nook and cranny of Ireland makes her the ideal navigator for any part of your visit. I'm so glad I found her tour and I cannot recommend it enough!

You can tell how much Ulla loves the country and nature. She took us to most unique and serene places in Burrner region and then to the Cliffs. It felt we were the only people there so much raw natural Beauty in the area. Ulla customize the tour for us as we wanted to explore the true nature of the region and not just do the standard cookie cutter tourist loop of the region. The stop at chocolate factory was wonderful. Yummy organic chocolates. The stop at the perfume factory felt not very necessary but it was ok to the see the business in the middle of no where. If you particularly are not in natural perfumes, candles and soaps this can be skipped. Ulla as a guide was super curteous. I had to tell her not to get out of the car to open the door for me. Her car was new, clean. We felt totally safe with her driving and to be with her in remote areas. I would highly recommend someone who wants to do an off beaten path with true raw natural beauty …. Just book Ulla’s tour.

Ulla’s private tour of the Burren and Cliffs of Moher is the perfect way to experience these sites. Ulla was a great tour guide. She showed us the best of the Burren by taking us on less traveled roads so we could get up close and personal with this area. We were able to get out and walk through the Irish countryside. Very relaxing day. Even though I was skeptical about the chocolate factory and the perfumery, they were both great stops which gave us a short respite. Don’t miss the hot chocolate and mochas at the chocolate factory. YUM. The perfumery gardens were wonderful to wonder through. Ulla made sure we visited the Cliffs later in the day when the big bus tours were leaving which made it less crowded. Ulla gave us a great recommendation to eat at Il Vicolo in Galway. It was wonderful! Highly recommend this tours.

Ulla spent the day taking us through the beautiful country roads along the coast, through the Burren, and to the Cliffs of Moher. She is professional, going out of her way to accommodate us, and thoughtful. We experienced the awe inspiring land in the presence of someone who loves Ireland and knows it deeply. I can’t say how much we enjoyed this day. Ulla is a special person, touring with her is truly a treasure.

It was a wonderful day. We saw and photographed so many stunning sights. The Burren is amazing, and Ulla’s tour stopped many times within the Burren. She timed the day so that we arrived at the dolman and the Cliffs of Moher at times when we were almost the only people there. We travelled on the backroads where the tour buses can’t go. And Ulla was kind, funny, helpful, knowledgeable…a perfect day.

The Cliffs of Moher and the Burren was a wonderful trip made all the more special by our wonderful guide Ulla. She was knowledgeable, friendly and gave us the freedom when we wanted it, to explore on our own. A fantastic day trip!

What a magnificent tour! Ulla knows this area extremely well - seemingly every scenic and isolated road, view and walk. She customized our trip depending on our desires, including plenty of time for walks, meals and visits. We avoided tourist-crowded sites for all but the cliffs of Moher (and that later in the day when the large groups were leaving). She's an excellent conversationalist and knowledgeable about natural history. The highlight of our trip.

Ulla was simply incredible. She has a love for the country that is hard to put into words. She will go anywhere you want! We were able to add a stop for my art loving husband. She truly brought the Burren alive.

Ulla is a fabulous guide. Her knowledge, her passion, and personality all came out during our day together. She balanced how much to tell us and when to just be quiet and let us enjoy the surroundings. As well, she is an excellent drive. We would highly recommend her. Thank you Ulla for a memorable day.
