5.00Our tour guide Loc was friendly ,informative and knowledgeable. His English was very good and he answered all questions put to him. If i was to fault anything it would be the fact that the tour did not end where it started , it should have been a loop back to the beginning . Overall i would give Loc & the tour itself a 9/10.

5.00My wife and I did the Shinjuku and Kabukicho walking tour with Tokyo Localized and were very lucky to have Paulina as our guide. She was energetic from the first minute and kept the whole group engaged. What I liked most was how she combined sightseeing with real cultural insight. She didn’t just walk us through Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai, she explained what an izakaya is, why these tiny bars are such a big part of Japanese social life, and how locals actually use these areas. She also introduced us to more complex topics like the “Tōyoko kids” phenomenon and modern youth / street culture in Kabukicho. On top of that, we got practical advice on how to stay safe and avoid problems. We really learned new things about Tokyo and didn’t just take photos of neon signs. Highly recommended – if you go, ask for Paulina!

5.00Excellent tour. Our guide, Gray, tought us a lot of new information about tokyo. Sex workers exist all over the world and we learned about how the workers get around the laws.

5.00Our tour guide was Grey. So entertaining, knowledgeable and fun to do the tour with. Learnt so much about the area and had lots of humorous moments. Definitely worth doing. A very enjoyable tour with a great guide.

She made sure that we did see the dark-side of Tokyo, and was very respectful while she talked about it and showed us. So it was VERY well worth us taking the tour! 1.00Unfortunately our experience of this tour was that it didn’t live up to its name; our guide Huy did not seem equipped to handle the subject matter with any degree of charisma, expertise or nuance. If you want to hear about the red light district and LGBT scene in Shinjuku from someone with seemingly extremely limited experience of either, this might be for you, but otherwise expect a pretty stereotypical and derogatory take on the subjects. Full disclosure, we did bail halfway through after the guide doubled down on the insistence that the women working in the adult industry are all vapid and unintelligent, so perhaps he really pulls it together at the end, but I think you’d learn more about the dark side of Tokyo from speaking to one of those women for 10 minutes than from this whole tour
