This was our first stop of our Artic Circle cruise. The train was next to the cruise port , ideal - I had read on at a that the right hand side of carriage’s gave the best views. It’s a slow paced journey so that you can admire the scenery and an excellent commentary of the various points of view - the magnificent Trollveggen rock face, the Kylling bridge as well as historical buildings along the way . You also learn the history of the train and how it moved Norway gold in WW11 The round trip took us to Bjorli, where we got off for 15 min. Cost was 690NOK about £53 - money well spent

Round trip on the Golden Train, admiring beautiful views and retracing the historic story of the displacement of Norwegian gold resources after the Nazi occupation in World War II, to avoid their looting.

We were fortunate to go on this trip on a lovely day. It was wonderful with breathtaking scenery. In our mind, we preferred it to the Flam railway although to be fair, that day was rainy and overcast. We found the story of the Norwegians transporting their gold to hide it from the Germans during WW 11 absolutely fascinating.

We were a little confused prior to boarding our train as the reservation was for 12:50 on loading platform 2. We watched another train with long lines of people waiting to board on platform 1 and it was 12:30. In hindsight I should have put two and two together finally asked at 12:45 and that was our train. Other than that it was perfect! We loved this excursion. It was comfortable and very informative.

Great experience we absolutely loved the train journey it was a real highlight to our holiday, couldn’t fault that at all. Disappointed in communication at pick up point literally no one there to assist or tell us where to go, we were told to meet in the car park but no one showed up, we already had the tickets but we needed the golden ticket to alight the train, eventually we managed to find someone to help us (not from your company) and luckily got a seat together. If we’d waited where we were told to wait it could have been a different story! Nevertheless we sorted it out and the communication via email etc up to that point was spot on.
