Museo de la Revolucion Salvadorena
We will start our adventure leaving San Salvador for the mountains of Morazán (approximately 3 hours of scenic travel). Upon arrival in Perquín, we will visit the iconic Museum of the Revolution. Here, local guides (many ex-combatants) will tell us the living history of the Civil War through artifacts, helicopter wreckage and bomb craters, offering a unique perspective on resistance and Human Rights.
El Mozote Monument
After a typical Salvadoran lunch (not included) in a local restaurant, we will head to the historic village of El Mozote. We will make a respectful walk to the Monument to the Victims and the Garden of the Fools. It is a moving experience where we will learn about historical memory, truth and justice through the stories of the community that has managed to transform pain into hope.
Arambala
We will finish the day settling in our mountain accommodation in the Arambala/Perquín area. Enjoy cool weather, the sound of pine forests and a relaxing dinner (not included) before resting for the next day’s adventure.
After breakfast, we will head to a natural sanctuary: the Toad River. Famous for its turquoise waters and being one of the cleanest rivers in El Salvador, it is the perfect place to connect with nature. You will have time to enjoy a refreshing swim in its crystal clear waters, relax in the sun or take a guided ecological walk to observe the flora and fauna that survived the conflict intact.
Jocoaitique
Our last historic stop will be in Jocoaitique. Here we will visit the interesting monument to the 'Special Guerrilla Forces', where your expert guide will explain the military tactics and strategies that defined this area. We will enjoy a traditional lunch (not included) before starting our trip back to San Salvador. We will make short stops at panoramic viewpoints to capture the latest photos of the imposing mountains of Morazán.
