His ability to weave together the story of the city from the days of the Prussian Empire through the complexities of the 20th century and into modern-day Berlin was remarkable. Every stop along the way felt meaningful, with rich context, fascinating detail, and just the right touch of storytelling. What stood out most was Jochen’s passion and depth of knowledge. The tour itinerary reflected more the Cold War and its impact on Berlin instead of simply looking at the Berlin City center, which we greatly appreciated. Combined with the WWII - Third Reich tour, we received a broad understanding of how the citizens have responded to each new twist and turn, resulting in a deeper appreciation for the German people and all they’ve had to endure.
