Moreover, brilliant natives of Jewish ethnicity changed for the better Timisoara and surrounding region. Alongside the impressive synagogues, a large number of Timisoara’s valuable buildings were either financed or designed by Jewish townsmen.
All of these above mentioned are parts of the Jewish heritage of Timisoara, and we are inviting you to discover it!

5.00My son and I booked a personalized private all-day tour with Dan Codre to explore the city of Timisoara where our family had lived prior to emigrating to the U.S. We combined three elements for the tour: (1) the Jewish heritage of the city, (2) Romanian street food and (3) trying to locate the places where our family had lived so we could walk in their footsteps. Dan was so flexible and a pleasure to deal with in setting up the tour, including locating the family’s home addresses in advance. On site he was extremely knowledgeable and expertly shared the history of the Jewish population in Timisoara and the neighborhoods where Jewish life once thrived, and several fun stops along the way to taste amazing Romanian street food. Dan shared historic photos as we walked so we could see how things have changed over time, took plenty of photos that he subsequently shared with us to preserve the memories and told us about a book he recommended on the Jewish history in Timisoara. One of our favorite parts about the tour was that Dan took us from place to place not just by walking but also via the various forms of public transportation available, including the trams and the river boat down the Bega river. That part was so fun! The search for the apartments where family lived was the most meaningful part of the experience for us. We found the exact doorways for several of them and took lots of photographs to share with our family back home. I strongly recommend others to book with Dan for a deeply meaningful experience. Ludovic is a very good guide, he has the gift of storytelling, he captured us from the first and we received a lot of informations about the history of the city of Timisoara. It was an unforgettable experience, I can't wait to repeat this experience, of course with him.

Our guide had a very positive attitude and captured our curiosity until the end by combining stories and historical details.

5.00Fantastic, detailed tour with Dan who was a great guide. Highly recommended. We went to many parts of the city including the industrial Fabric district. I went with my mum although TripAdvisor doesn't provide this option.

5.00I done this tour in August. It was a good choice to spend few hours to find new things about so rich Timisoara history and also, to get information about Jewish heritage, we have in town. To discover the history about the old buildings, a real treasure for Timisoara, told by Ludovic it was a real pleasure. Also, I was happy to have the opportunity to visit a Synagogue. I recommend this tour guided by Ludovic or other tours guided by him. For sure you'll enjoy the time spend and information you'll found out.
