What To Expect
San Pedro de Atacama
The tour begins with the pick-up of passengers at the accommodation, this usually takes approximately 30 minutes, then we will move to our facilities about 7km outside of San Pedro where our guide will wait for them.
We will give you a brief welcome talk and take souvenir photographs. It is very important to come with warm, light-colored clothing. Afterwards we will have a short talk about astronomy related to star formation and the use of telescopes. Finally, we will use the 14-inch telescopes to discover the universe, where you can enjoy, depending on the date of your trip, different types of stars, nebulae, planets and other objects that will leave you speechless.

5.00We had an amazing time with The Roofless Experience in SPdA. The small group format made the night feel personal and immersive. Jhonatan and his assistant were knowledgeable, taking their time to explain the southern sky in detail while guiding us through views of stars, planets, and distant galaxies. One of the highlights for me was seeing both the large and Small Magellanic Cloud galaxies. The cherry on the top was Jhonatan photographing each guest with the dark Atacama sky as a backdrop. The entire experience was thoughtful, educational, and truly magical. Highly recommended.

5.00My family and I signed up for a stargazing outing with Jhonatan and The Roofless Experience in late December 2025. Jhonatan's logistics and communications were perfect. Several hours before our tour, Jhonatan texted that incoming clouds might impact the quality of the tour. Later that evening, he regretfully cancelled the tour when a few more more clouds moved in, and promised a full refund. A week later, the tour's full cost was credited back to me. Now Jhonatan could have taken his customers out that night to hopelessly squint through telescopes. Maybe other companies may have done that? But he clearly has high standards for the "Experience" and cancelled at cost to himself. We hope to some day return to the Atacama and Jhonatan's tour. Those considering this tour should know of the integrity and professionalism behind it.

5.00Jhonatan was brilliant in conducting the stargazing experience in the Atacama desert! He had immense knowledge of astronomy and guided us to some breathtaking shots of distant galaxies, constellations, stars, planets, shooting stars among others, and taught us how to get good photographs. He also took great pictures. Highly recommend this for a personalized and immersive stargazing experience.

5.00Our Roofless experience in San Pedro was the highlight of our holiday. The night sky is impossible to put into words — it really is something you have to experience for yourself. The tour was extremely well organised, with clear and timely communication in advance, so we always knew the schedule and timings. We were picked up promptly from our Airbnb in San Pedro, which made everything feel effortless. The food and wine were delicious and the perfect accompaniment to the experience. Jhon was knowledgeable, had a great sense of humour, and clearly cared deeply about ensuring his guests had a memorable experience.
