Do you want an adventure, to see more than just the city, escape the crowds and take a step into the unknown?
Based in San Sebastian we are the active tour specialists in the Basque Country providing incredible experiences. This tour is a firm favourite of ours, set in one of the deepest, wild woods of the Basque Country, we'll follow the ancient, railway route that once was used to bring iron from the mines to the city. It has now been transformed into a 25 km winding, peaceful escape alongside the river with the sounds of the woods taking us through timeworn tunnels and into little villages. There are some great breather spots along the way and you have the chance to cool off in the river at the end of the ride. It’s a good trail no big hills and pretty flat most of the way. Your level determines how far you will ride, the guide will completely tailor make the tour to suit you.
It's a great way to get those legs going, escape the masses and the heat of summer in the city.

What To Expect
Escape the city for the day and join us for an amazing mountain bike adventure. 5.00Borja was a great guide. My boys who are 8 and 10 found him so fun and comical. Borja catered the trip to our abilities as far as the bike ride. The trail is gorgeous, very lush valley. We had a delicious Spanish lunch and the kids and Borja jumped in the river swimming hole after eating. The trip out from San Sebastián was quick and easy, the van was very clean. Wonderful adventure!

Borja provided a delicious meal after the ride and told us about the area throughout the day. I would highly recommend this bike trip - my family can’t stop talking about it!

5.00This ride exceeded expectations. Borja was a perfect guide--the scenery was literally breathtaking and such a nice view to see and a change from the coast line. then finished in time to hit the beach in the afternoon.

5.00Borja picked us up in the city and delivered us to our starting point. Along the way, he happily answered many of our lifestyle and area questions. The bike tour certainly exceeded our expectations and expanded our understanding of the Basque area. Our guide, Kevin, was very informative and helpful in explaining to us about the countryside and other topics of life in the San Sebastián. Furthermore he was so easy to get to know and we seemed to really genuinely “click”. He is a great conversationalist that seems so happy to be in San Sebastián and to be able to do what he does for a living. The over all ride was interesting and for us challenging in a positive way. Upon our return we were greeted again by Borja. We were tired but refreshed and looking forward to seeing the cider house aspect of the tour. Driving back towards SS, we arrived at the cider house and were greeted by one of the owners. The experience of seeing the cider house and understanding some of the history was fascinating! We enjoyed “catching” the cider and being refreshed. The meal was superb and unique and our time with Borja asking questions was so informative. We would highly recommend this tour or likely any other tours you offer. Borja, Penny, and Kevin were super people and one of the highlights of our 5 weeks trip in Spain.

5.00The tour we booked with Experience San Sebastian was excellently organized from beginning to end - we got in touch via phone after scouring their website and Borja took his time to go through various options with us to tailor everything to our needs. We ended up going on the Train Track Trail bike ride with Borja, and it was a spectacular experience: The trail itself is beautiful and Borja was an immensely personable guide who kept us entertained, provided some tips on the area and was just in general very knowledgeable about both the track, the bikes and San Sebastian. The picnic at the end was also great (and much appreciated after the downhill ride). Had we had more time in San Sebastian, I'm sure we would have booked another one of their tours without hesitation!

5.00This was a truly fantastic experience. The quality of the bikes and Borka's support made this a truly memorable trip. Our family of five loved every minute of it. Our 8-year-old daughter was nervous in sections, however, with Borka's encouragement, she overcame her fears and had an absolute blast. I highly recommend this tour, especially for families.

5.00This trip was amazing!! Borja picked us up at our hotel and drove us to where we were to ride mountain bikes. He is a great guide who made our day fun! We went for a nice bike ride on the train track trail for as long as we wanted to ride. The scenery was so beautiful. We went to the river for a swim then had an awesome picnic (food and drinks were spectacular)! We would highly recommend this experience! We will definitely book with Experience San Sebastian next time we are in the area. Thank you to Borja and Penny for our amazing day!! We hope to see you again in the future!

5.00Fantastic experience. A gentle, downhill all the way slope for 26km, with amazing views through the Basque Country. The course is an old railway track so the gradient is very gentle and involves riding through an exciting series of semi dark tunnels through the rock. Takes a couple of hours, depending on how fast you want to go but, as a bunch of pensioners, we opted for discretion rather than haste. The safety equipment (helmets) and the cycles were beautifully maintained and Covid proofed. Our guide Borja was brilliant and took lots of photos and videos for our subsequent enjoyment. An amazing day.
