IN-DEPTH 2 HOUR POLITICAL MURAL HISTORY TOUR Every city has it’s shopping and coffee culture but Belfast city has a unique past after coming out of 30 years of conflict.Your guides are the original drivers who had to transport their communities through the bullets and bombs of THE TROUBLES and have their lives at risk every time they seat in their black cabs.
The North of Ireland has become famous for the murals painted in almost every area of the country . These pictures of IRA ,UVF murals are often flashed around the world on news bulletins or used as a backdrop when interviewing people. They often depict the history and political views of both traditions and are a way of marking territory. These wall paintings often look intimidating but they have become as much of a tourist attraction as many of the regular attractions within Belfast and beyond.

Falls road Belfast the heart of Republicanism and the birth place of the Provisional Irish Republican Army. You guide will give you a full detailed account off history from a Republican point of view and you will be able to get a photo of the worlds most famous mural Bobby sands.
Divis
Divis flats is the start of the Falls road and welcome mural depicting everyone is welcome. You guide will explain about the British having the army base on the top 3 floors and using people as human sheilds and explain the burning of Falls road 1969 by loyalist and 800 years of Irish history

5.00Our tour guide on the day was Mal. He was great and very knowledgeable about the “Troubles” and gave us a lot of background information of the history of Ireland, Southern Ireland and Northern Ireland, which explained some of the reasons behind the “Troubles”. We really enjoyed what he said and what he told us. Of course, some of what is included in the tour is pretty harrowing.

5.00David, our host gave us a first person view of how the Troubles impacted him and his family. As he discussed those very difficult times , friends and neighbors waved and went about their business. He took time to answer lots of questions and give us a view of today's Belfast. I am old enough to remember the 1970-1980 conflict and it put a personal face on it. I think the standard deviation of tour guides is high and David is at the top of the list........highly recommended.
