Pillars of rock, sculpted by prehistoric rivers and crowned by otherworldly monasteries, monuments to the power of faith.
Meteora means “suspended in space”. Your first, second and third sight of these impossibly tall, vertical rocks will have you gasping in disbelief. But it’s not just the incredible geology that stretches your imagination. It’s the monasteries balanced on these pinnacles. How did they get there? The monks who built them were the original rock climbers, lifting the materials up with pulleys, nets and their bare hands.
Today, fans of the sport come to Meteora from the world over, to pit themselves against these gigantic rocks. Unesco has declared Meteora a World Heritage Site. The Greek state calls it a sacred spot, inviolate and immutable. You’ll no doubt come up with other adjectives to describe Meteora, this wonder of the world.

Fantastic trip and well worth the time. Solon took care of us the entire day and we saw many sights and took some great pictures. Our family of 4 (with 2 teens) had a great time.

Seeing the Monasteries in Metero with a private transfer and guide was amazing. Solon from "Hello Thessaloniki Travel Services" picked us up from the port in his beautiful Mercedes. He was personable and shared so many great insights of the land and culture of the people. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and got us to the front of the line in the crowd. Thank you for taking us to lunch and celebrating our 40th Anniversary in style! We will always remember you Solon. Richard and Jayne USA

We visited Meteora on this day trip with an infant. Our driver was very accommodating to us and our baby. He pulled over whenever we needed and let us know of upcoming stops. He picked a great spot for lunch that had all of the character of Greece. He was very informative and took photos of us. He labeled all of the monasteries in the photos so we knew what was behind us. He gave us more travel advice even the day after our trip. We would recommend and we would do it again.

It was a great trip! Worth the (less than) three hours trip to see these monasteries. The scenery was amazing and the views spectacular. Our driver Solon of "Hello Thessaloniki" was very helpful and prepared us for climbing 142 steps to reach the top of one of the monasteries. A must if you’re traveling to Thessaloniki. We recommend you book online. Solon take us for lunch at a very nice and cozy restaurant (not tourist place) in Trikala city (25 klm from Meteora). After the trip they send us pictures and video from our trip!!! Highly recommended!
