What To Expect
We do not have a strict program, Icelandic weather is very unstable and we prefer to play around it on hiking tours. On a regular Hike in Thorsmork tour we drive into the valley, stop by waterfalls, crossing glacier rivers, we might also stop by different canyons like Stakkholtsgjá and even at Nauthúsagil, a small beautiful canyon, hike to Valahnukur peak (if the weather allows) or other neighborhood areas or hiking trails like Tindafjallahringur and etc. The hikes vary from 3-5 hours depending on the people and the weather. Sometimes we do two shorter approx. 1-hour hikes plus 3 hours around Valahnjukur circle.

5.00This hike would make the highlight reel of my life! Midgard is top notch. We took a super jeep ride for about 45 minutes to the remote trailhead. Beautiful rugged scenery and jaw dropping views of mountains and glaciers. The first part of the hike was easy/moderate. Then we stopped for a delicious lunch which we purchased from Midgard. The next portion of the hike was a heart pumping climb of almost a mile up but the views made all that effort worth it. Our guide Valdy was very knowledgeable and personable. We were blessed with absolutely perfect weather making for an unforgettable memory. The total distance of both hikes was about 6.5 miles.

5.00Really a highlight of the trip. The place was beautiful and the guide was very knowledgeable about hidden spots off the beaten track. We were reluctant at first as we weren't sure the tents would be comfortable but we were pleasantly surprised and all slept very well

5.00We had a great day trip to Thorsmork! The hike was accurately described as moderate, with 1288 ft elevation gain with some some narrow / steep paths. The guide provided a lot of information about the area which really enriched the beautiful hike.

5.00This is a wonderful, family & friends-run business, encompassing tours, a small hotel, and a restaurant/bar. We booked and enjoyed the Porsmork day hike tour, and had dinner & spent the night there. The rooms are clean, basic and functional, and the food (both dinner and breakfast) were excellent. The whole place has a “we are so glad to have you here” vibe, which really made it enjoyable. Highly recommended.
For all hiking lovers, away from the crowded, touristy spots!

5.00Hiking in Þórsmörk with Sven was absolutely amazing! He’s super friendly, authentic, and feels like a true Viking guide. The landscapes were breathtaking, almost like walking through an elven movie. We went as a couple and it was such a fun, unforgettable adventure. Highly recommended for anyone who loves hiking away from the crowded, touristy spots!

5.00~4 hour hike with amazing views of every landscape Iceland has to offer. Cool super-jeep ride into the park with views, waterfalls, fun river crossings, and a stop at cavern on the way back. Great tour company that was very professional, tour guide was great and did a good job of balancing the pace given a mix of people in our group (this hike is good for any reasonably in shape adult or older kid - ~5 miles and ~300 meters of elevation gain). Midgard base camp also a great place to grab a bite and drink when you get back from the tour. This was a nice change-up from a few other hikes we did on our own. It is impossible to get into this area on your own without a super-jeep, we saw lots a large passenger SUVs attempting and failing to cross the rivers.

5.00Today we did the Thorsmork hike/ day tour with Midgard Adventure ! What a fabulous day - the service both pre hike and during the hike was exceptional . Our guide was Paulme ?(spelling ) and he was terrific . Our jeep ride to the start of the hike was exciting with multiple river crossings - we always felt we were in safe hands as Paulme said “this was not his first rodeo ! We are keen hikers and this was definitely one of the best ! Scenery was absolutely spectacular - The hike was 9km with some steep parts and loose gravel but our group of 4 “ more mature” hikers managed it well ! I think this might be our best day in Iceland Do not miss this

5.00The Thorsmork hike was a highlight of our trip to Iceland. The hike we completed was physically challenging and fun. Our group ranged from 13 to 50, all reasonably fit but not experienced hikers. Our guide chose a hike that suited our abilities and offered incredible views. We pre-ordered the lunchboxes and the food was delicious -- especially the chickpea salad and trail mix. I wish I had those recipes!
