What To Expect
Tikal National Park
Tikal National Park is the most excavated (Mayan?) archaeological site in Central America and one of the most excavated (archaeological) sites in the world. It covers some 57,600 hectares of wetlands and forests and encompasses architectural remains of the Mayan civilization dating from 600 BC to 900 AD. Tikal is the only natural and cultural UNESCO World Heritage site in Central America and one of few in the world with both designations. As such, Tikal is considered one of the top 20 tourist sites in the world and a must-see. Route: Flores - Tikal - Flores Tikal Hotels - Tikal - Tikal Hotels 6.45am meet you at flores airport if landing there. 7.00am we leave from flores, could be 7.30am, 8.00am depending what you selected on the booking. 3.5 to 4.00 hours in the site and back to flored or airport. Return to Flores airport or flores island is 3.30pm.

5.00We did a tour to Tikal and, the following day, a trip to Yaxha. Tikal VIP tours were excellent. The communication beforehand was very good indeed and our drivers and tour guides on both days were very interesting and engaging. We were able to totally take our time both days and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Tikal VIP Tours.

5.00A great way to get the best from a once in a lifetime visit to Tikal. Our driver and guide, Daniel, was lovely, knowledgable and great company. He gave super insights to the history and natural history of this amazing site, adapting the length of the tour to suit our wishes (we love hiking and wanted to include as many temples as possible).

5.00Excellent visit, recommend the Location in Islas de Flores. Close to the airport and TIKAL a few minutes. Staying in Isla de Flores is cozy and quiet, has very good restaurants for all tastes. You can make safe walks both day and night.

5.00We had an amazing tour of Tikal with Elmer and Tikal VIP. We had done a tour of Yaxha earlier in the week and were impressed enough that by the end of the day we coordinated a non-standard tour of Tikal directly with Elmer. They were very accommodating about adjusting their normal schedule to fit our timeline, lowering the cost to account for us having pre-purchased Tikal entry tickets, providing transportation that did not return to the original starting location, and storing/protecting our luggage during the tour since we were moving to a new location afterward. The decision to go with Tikal VIP again was definitely the right one. As before the driver was very safe and vehicle new and good for the types of road. Elmer, the company owner and our guide, was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable and eager to share information about Mayan history, the archeology and research behind the information, the flora and fauna of the jungle, as well as general Guatemalan society.

5.00Our guide is called Bayron and it was really a pleasure his teachings and appreciation, the information he shared was a true approach to Mayan culture, far from the false stories invented by outsider archaeologists for hundreds of years. It was very pleasing to be accompanied by a native with his stories full of wisdom, humility and respect for the Mayan culture, telling us the true meanings both archaeologically and cosmogically and spiritually of this immense civilization. A wealth and pride for the heart and memory of our ancestors, the Mayans of the world’s oldest and wisest populations. I also personally thank you as you answered all my doubts because I went earlier to the Museum of archaeology of Guatemala and there are no explanations of the original pieces that they preserve there.
