[Tin Plate Making Experience in Toyama] Suzugami is a tin plate product, whose fabrication incorporates the concept of embodying Takaoka, representing this special artisan's work and making a product you can actually use in everyday life." Addin a new spin on the classic plate, suzugami is thin like paper and though made of metal, is extreamely bendable. Due to how many times the thin is hit during the creation process, the metal becomes durable enough to be reshaped repeatedly. In the workshop, you will have the experience of imprinting the pattern of your choice and creating a beautiful malleable tin plate.

Had a fun time at the Tin making experience in Takaoka! The owner explained what metals they work with and why, and then gave us a demonstration. We then got to make our own patterns into a flexible sheet of tin that we could keep. After the crafts were done, we could ask about things around the shop. The owner was passionate about explaining the "sound bowls" that they make and how particular they have to be to tune the bowl to the perfect pitch. It was a great time, and I hope to return in the future!

I would recommend it as a fun and easy way to create a beautiful and unique Toyama souvenir. It was almost a meditative experience striking the tin with the hammer to imprint the pattern. It's also a special experience to see the interior of the artisan's workshop.
