Skanderbeg Square
The Tirana City Tour begins at Skanderbeg Square, the vibrant heart of the city where locals gather to walk, relax, and enjoy various concerts, festivals, and events. Named after the national hero, Skanderbeg, the square is one of the largest in Albania and is surrounded by historical and cultural landmarks. Your guide will share the stories behind the main buildings around the square, including: The Palace of Culture, a significant cultural landmark built during the communist era, offering insight into the country's history. The Clock Tower of Tirana, an iconic first-category cultural monument, providing great views of the city. Et'hem Bey Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Albania and the Balkans, located at the heart of Tirana, showcasing stunning Ottoman architecture. Additionally, you have the option to visit the National Historical Museum-(optional). This tour offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the city’s past while enjoying its modern-day vibrancy.
Xhamia Et'hem Bej
The first stop on your tour is the Et'hem Bey Mosque, an architectural gem built in the 18th century by Ethem Bey and completed by his son. The mosque is an important symbol of Tirana's religious heritage and stands out for its stunning Ottoman design, including beautiful frescoes and intricate carvings. During the Communist regime, the mosque, like many others, was closed in 1968. However, in 1991, it was reopened after the fall of communism, marking a significant moment in Albania’s religious revival. What makes this reopening especially memorable is that many Muslim believers participated, and surprisingly, there was no police intervention, despite the fact that the law still prohibited religious gatherings at the time. This event highlighted the resilience of Albania’s faith communities and the mosque's role as a symbol of hope and renewal.

5.00Very pleasant and relaxed. The guide picks you up by car, but you park and walk. It’s a lovely way to learn the city, as Tirana is very walkable. The guide, Adi, was patient and happy to change pace as well as take pictures.

4.00We were expecting a city tour in a vehicle with a guide as mentioned in the itinerary. However it was a walking tour of the city with a guide. The guide was good, but it was too hot for a walking tour and quite exhausting. I recommend that the itinerary is correctly mentioned and should not be misleading

4.00This was our first visit to Tirana. Our guide, Adi, did a nice job showing us the city in an enjoyable walking tour. Visited all the major historical and arquitectural sites. Adi was personable and patient. He adapted to our pace, as I stopped frequently to take photos.

5.00Adi is so kind and knowledgeable! The tour of Tirana was very interesting, and feels personalized for each guest and their interests. It gave a great overview of the city's history, both past and present. Having a tour guide through the Bunk'Art 2 museum was also very helpful. Adi also gave good recommendations for food and other places to check out. He was a great resource even after the tour was over!
