Traditionally, authentic Kintsugi requires a process that takes about a month to complete. However, in this workshop, we use synthetic lacquer instead of natural lacquer, and metallic powder as a substitute for gold, allowing participants to complete and take home their restored piece within 90 minutes.
We recommend using the restored piece for decorative purposes only. Please also note that the repaired item is not microwave-safe, as there is a risk of ignition.
Please note that the workshop venue may change depending on availability and the number of reservations. In the event of any changes, we will notify you by email with the new location details one day before the workshop.
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Class was educational and fun and Tatsu was a great instructor! We took the class with our son and daughter in law - all enjoyed it thoroughly. Tatsu is patient and the setting in a private room inside the coffee shop is serene with lots of greenery. It was interesting to hear about Tatsu’s long history as a sound engineer too. We will treasure our keepsake kintsugi pieces and look forward to displaying them when we get home.

He was wonderful! Loved the history of kinsugi and absolutely loved doing it. We, of course didn’t have a month to let things dry and set up - so we used modern day short cuts with the understanding that there is another way. got to repair my iwn tile! Great group of fellow repair learners!

Our instructor Tatsu was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and personable. He truly cares about the experience of his students and ensures that everyone has a finished piece that they are proud of. He can speak authoritatively about the art of kintsugi and explain the cultural relevance, and how and why kintsugi is practiced today, and the changes that the art has undergone in the hundreds of years since its inception. The time we spent with Tatsu was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.

This experience was fantastic. Excellent instructor. The class was inside a small lounge. It was a beautiful, peaceful place. And we were able to take home a souvenir with personal meaning.
