Top of the Rockefeller building with great views of Central Park on one side and downtown Manhattan with the star of skyline Empire State Building on the other side. No crowds when visited on a Tuesday afternoon. Bought the tickets right at the entrance, no line at all. Quick movie at the entrance and elevator to the top. Indoor viewing area as well as outdoor. Really worth to see the city from the top.

Booking tickets online was super quick and easy. There wasn’t much of a line so we were able to get to know some of the staff along the way. Everyone was so kind and informative. The view speaks for itself. We had a blast!

Amazing views of the New York skyline. I would highly recommend doing this at night to capture the beauty of it lit up

I visited Top of the Rock at sunset, and unfortunately, I didn’t feel it was worth the ticket price. The entire process felt like one long series of lines. We queued outside for 20 minutes, only to be moved into another queue inside, followed by a wait for a theater presentation, and yet another queue for the elevator. By the time we reached the observation deck, it was incredibly packed. Because it was so busy, I couldn't get any clear photos; I wasn't willing to push and shove my way to the front just for a view. While the sunset was beautiful, the experience was overshadowed by the crowds and the constant waiting. If you are looking for a better observation deck experience in NYC, I’d recommend The Edge. In my opinion, it is much better organized and more affordable. Date of visit: May 2026

Expensive but worth it when you don't have a lot of time. We did this right after a Central Park tour, so it was neat to see Central Park from a different point of view. The Skylift experience wasn't a necessary add-on. There wasn't anything to tell you what you were looking at, so unless you know which builidng is what, no education, just views. You can see the Empire State Bullding, but a lot of iconic things like the Chrysler building is blocked by the ugly MetLife building. Central Park views are interrupted by a couple of new, horribly tall skyscrapers. The lack of information was a little disappointing.

The view is, of course, incredible. Everything else was very poor indeed. We paid for sunset tickets and arrived ahead of our slot but missed the sun going down as it took so long to get up to the deck. Once at the top it was so busy it was impossible to get a decent view. Very very crowded and the stairs from second to third deck are badly designed and unsafe - they create a bottleneck and are very dark and cramped with people squeezing up and down and pushing past each other. The top deck says it accommodates 200 people and it was definitely overcrowded and beyond this capacity. It was not being managed in any way and felt unsafe. Queues were poorly managed altogether with people pushing into the long line to exit and the line being either unstaffed, or staffed by employees busy looking at their phones. Exit signs point to an area that is not in fact an exit. I would never go back here whereas I would return to the Empire State Building, which is much better run. Top of the Rock just squeezes in as many people as they can, and then some more.

There were lots of people, too many people during our schedule time 7:10 to see the sunset. Very long lines even though we scheduled our time we still had to wait in long lines. We got to the top. There was no room to even take a good picture with my wife and I. People were hogging the front and unable to get a clear view. Did get other views because I’m tall enough to raise my camera above everyone else, but could not get get good pictures with my wife. A little disappointing.
