Explore Oregon’s coast with Onward Adventures! This 3-hour guided tour takes you from Seaside to Cannon Beach, blending history, scenery, and local flavor.
In Seaside, we stop at landmarks like the Lewis & Clark Salt Works, the Sailors’ Grave, and the Seaside Promenade and Broadway district, with views toward Tillamook Head and the distant, mysterious Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, “Terrible Tilly.” We’ll also point out the Seaside Museum so you know where to go if you’d like to visit inside on your own later.
In Cannon Beach, highlights include Haystack Rock, Ecola State Park’s stunning viewpoints, and a walk through town where we’ll also pass the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum (great to return to when it’s open).
Along the way, we’ll share fun activity ideas—craft shops, arcades & theatre, hiking trails, tidepooling spots—and fill the ride with stories, salt air, and scenic views.
From salt pans to sea stacks—ride with Onward Adventures and see the coast like a local!

It was our first time to Seaside and Cannon Beach and we were looking for a tour that would give us an overview of the area and what to explore. We were so happy to find Onward Adventures. From the moment we started, it was clear this wasn't a standard, one-size-fits-all experience. Katie and Bill took the time to understand our group dynamic and customize every stop. Their local knowledge made all the difference, helping us navigate to places we would have never found on our own. And finally, the best surprise of the day was their sweet co-pilot, Bailey! When they asked if it was okay to bring their dog, we enthusiastically said yes, and we are so glad we did. She was such a good girl and made the tour even more special. If you are looking for an exceptional, personalized, and expertly guided tour that feels more like a day out with knowledgeable friends than a commercial excursion, book with Katie and Bill. Highly, highly recommended!

What an amazing time we had with Katie from Onward Adventures on our private tour of the beaches near Astoria. Katie's enthusiasm and knowledge and deep passion of her community shines through. We enjoyed the painted rocks, Seaside and Cannon Beach and a well-timed stop at the Haystack for a low-tide visit. We ended the tour with a sing-a-long with sea lions. And then Katie took us for a delicious steaming hot bowl of clam chowder topped with smoked salmon at Josephine Smokehouse Chowder House in Astoria, a wonderful place that's been family-owned for over 100 hundred years. A great day!

Oh my Gosh we had so much fun with Katie from Onward Adventures! She took us to Hug Point, Haystack Rock, Painted Rock Beach, through Cannon Beach town, and Seaside, etc. She was so very friendly and outgoing; knowledgeable and eager to share her knowledge! Don't miss out on her and her tour!

This was an exceptional tour with Katie of Onward Tours. She was super knowledgeable and very friendly. We loved our experience with her and would book a different tour when back in the area. Your trip would be lackluster if you slept on this guide.

We were picked up at our hotel at the scheduled time, Our guide, Katie, was wonderful, Very informative. Showed us places we would have never seen, for example, the Lewis and Clark salt works and the painted rock beach, She took us to several fantastic beaches, haystack rock and cruised through Cannon Beach. We saw Elk in town just hanging out, The highlight in my opinion was the stop at Pilot House Distilling. A great place with high quality spirits. All in all, Katie made our experience very enjoyable and memorable. As we were dropped back at our hotel, it felt as though we had just spent the afternoon with a friend. We highly recommend Katie and Onward Adventures for a great time.

Like any Tour, it’s the Tour Guide that makes the experience enjoyable. Katie loves what she does and it reflects on the Tour we had. Small groups are personalized and better accommodating and our journey was just my wife & I. Hearing about the local lure and customs was unique. Drive bye and stops were organized and made you want to return later. Great package for all which puts you in the seaside life, history of the past and why Lewis & Clark stopped here. Thanks, Katie!

The fascinating tour heads south out of Astoria toward the two lovely little towns of Seaside and Cannon Beach, each with its own character. Dotting the route are gorgeous, unusual beaches. Perhaps our favorite was Hug Point, featuring caves, little waterfalls, unusual rock formations and shell mosaics nestled in cliff sides, but that beach is just one of many highlights we could mention. Katie, our well-informed guide, clearly loves sharing her area with others, whether she's discussing history, birds, or recommending good places to eat. When we are back in the area, we'll definitely contact Onward Adventures for another tour.
