The day we spent touring with Alex was the highlight of my visit to Namibia. His wealth of knowledge, pride in showing off the region’s natural beauty, and some impressive driving skills made for a thoroughly enjoyable day. Also have to mention the food. I knew lunch was included, but I’d pretty much expected a sandwich and maybe a bottle of beer. He delivered a feast!

Went with Alex, a lovely guide, really informative but relaxed. The scenery is stunning and driving over the dunes is really exhilarating. The lunch provided was excellent, even offered us oysters which were beautiful. Highly recommended.

Walvis Bay, Namibia. We booked a private tour for just the two of us. Catherine found Alex. on Trip Advisor .After meeting him we knew he was the one . On the way to Namibnaukluft Park we passed what I believe is where all the salt in The world is produced . We saw a mountain range of salt, flamingos, seals, beaches of red sand and even a few Jackels. Entering the park we were confronted the largest sand dunes we had ever seen. The vistas from the top of those dunes was incredible. At the end of the day we were served a gourmet lunch, as he put it, “in his home.” On a side note, upon my request, Alex turned the SUV into a dune buggy and gave us an unbelievable ride through the towering dunes. If you ever find yourself in Walvis Bay, Namibia get up with him. Just a super nice guy and a great guide

We were picked up from the cruise port in a nice SUV. Alex was knowledgeable and personable. We stopped to look closely at the sand and see the magnetic properties of the iron in the sand. Another time we stopped (our vehicle and one other); Alex said nothing to us but spent a long time digging in a sand bank. He finally pulled out a poor little gecko that he handed around for the tourists to hold and photograph. I don’t recommend this tour company because of the wildlife harassment. After a while we stopped on a beach where he said the picnic would be. I asked about a dune picnic and he said it was too hot. The picnic was miserable because we were swarmed with thousands of small flies. They were all over the food and got in the drinks. Very unpleasant. After that we drove into the dunes. We stopped several times for some wonderful photo ops. The drive through the dunes was beautiful.

Alex, our tour guide was great! The dunes were amazing and I felt safe the entire time even though it was a bit scary. They served a great spread of food, but our cruise ship discouraged us from eating while off the ship so I had vey little of the food and none of us tried the oysters they brought :-(

Wow what a day ! We arrived on a cruise and was picked up at the port as promised by Norman . We all had an amazing day and would highly recommend . From my first WhatsApp communication to the tour everything was as promised and first class . We even had our dietary needs catered for and enjoyed our picnic in the Dessert . This day was one of our highlights on our recent trip . Thank you

There are good tours and there are great tours. And this one firmly fits in the great category. Yes it helps that the sand dunes are breathtaking, that the views from the top of the dunes over the sea are stunning and that you cannot beat a drive along a beach with the sea only feet away. But to enjoy such wonderful delights you need excellent guides/drivers who not only know the terrain but also ensure you feel comfortable even when you are toppling off the top of a dune and descending down the slopes. It really was a brilliant experience and one we will never forget. And then after driving the dunes we found a spot at the top of a dune looking over the sea where a champagne picnic was set up (part of the tour cost) which really was something really special. One of the highlights of all the travelling we’ve been so lucky to enjoy around the world. With two cars with 4 guests in each we were able to enjoy a really personalised tour. You could never do it in a coach. You have to have expert guides. And the tour arrived back at exactly 5.30 as we had asked. I cannot recommend this tour and Okangala Tours enough. I hope fellow travellers will enjoy this tour as much as we did. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful windswept dunes that we traversed up and down. Safe driving along the sand, and bird sightings.
